Cleaner planner new route optimiser! Brilliant!!!
« on: August 06, 2018, 03:21:38 pm »
As the title says we are trialling the new intergrated route optimiser with cleaner planner and it is fantastic! One of the hardest things in my business is coordinating nearly 5000 customers. Our diesel bill is getting to £4k a month so this makes a huge difference for us.

I love it!

Sounds great.

Every £1 saved is £1 earned as far I'm concerned. Except you don't have to work for it!

That does sound handy. My chaps try to travel as efficiently as possible because it means they finish sooner as they usually just have a daily turnover quota. But that gets harder I assume the further you travel and the more customers you’ve got. More so if your guys do different work each time round.

Hi lee

Sounds intriguing will it be an add on or with only with certain packages

And a taster of how it functions would be helpful

As normally it’s me  planning every route for each day to optimise the travel time, to try and reduce time and fuel wastage

Also you stated in another thread about using tablets,  can they be set to a person only seeing what they have to do and not having access to debts and other information

I’m interested in this route and what tablet have to found best and are they 4g up for sat nav use or just WiFi when back at base

Thanks

Tony

Am using an app called e clean to cover work for a customer, this is over 400 locations around northwest

Never used any other this is first 1 I have used, it has all jobs with there post codes in, it also has gps locations so that u have to be within a near distance to the job to be able to sign it off. Once signed off, the document is there with a map of the area were the phone gps signal went from.

Pretty good especially for me as paper work is a nightmare

yes you can assign each tablet to each employee so they only get to see their own work

Carrie is enjoying the route optimiser so far - ill be interested on a couple of rounds because some houses have to be accessed via another road

Optimiser

So we have all the towns we cover laid out in the order of the rounds already. Our problem came when picking lets say 20 jobs from a town for a cleaner for tomorrow. He might drive all over the place on that sheet. Now I add the 20 jobs, click 1 button "optimise" on the worksheet and less than 10 seconds later its in the most efficient order assuming the start and finish point is our base address. Its brilliant and fast. So we can save money on fuel and time in the day for an earlier finish or get more jobs done. No more back and forth all day which does their heads in

Tablets.

The cleaners can only access the sheet I assign to them and nothing else. No 4g just wifi at the office in the morning to down load the days sheet and then same at the end of the day to upload whats been done. However they can use hot spot on their phone to do this anywhere.

To be honest I am happy to pay the extra charge. This will make a  masive difference to us that could add up to thousands in saved fuel over a year. This has been a big headache for me for a long time and now its yet another thing sorted thanks to technology.

Some if the routes it puts together I could never have done in my head but when you look at some of them you can't help but say wow. Why didn't I think of doing it that way.. very impressed with it and sure it will get alot of people to switch software. Cleaner planner with gocardless integrated and the route planning software is a game changer for this business.  Happy days !!

Ok got some feedback from the other half,

Basically it’s no where near ready and certainly not worth any extra p/m

She is getting a lot of crashes in the system and you are very limited to the number of jobs it will optimise usually not enough for our daily window cleaning rounds

Other problems are more unique to us like you can only start from the unit/registered address - we have several days where the guys have to do a commercial job then the round so it would need optimising from the commercial clean which at present it can’t do

Those bugs aside it has potential

How many jobs are you giving it to optimise at one time? Our worksheets are on average 15-18 jobs per person and it seems to be ok with that.

Also when it doesnt crash for you do you find the route is good?

So other than crashing if your giving it a lot to deal with and the start and finish at the base issue its ok?

It works on a slow day if it’s from base and back to base - many of our days are 25 plus cleans and that’s when it goes screwy

There was a program brought out years ago to cut down on journeys with lots of drop off points,  route fiinder or something similar. You had to buy it once and then you owned it.  Modern day programs are all cash cows milking it in out of people.

If you are using this now are you testing it for cleaner Planner? I've logged on but can't see how to use it myself there seems to be no option for it. Anyone know how much it will cost to use?

Which tablets do you use Lee?

And what happens if you have to update a list once someone is already out on the road? Is that when they'd have to use their phone hotspot to sync? I use Aworka but I'm guessing Cleaner Planner is very similar?

Any tablet

I just go down to PC world and pick one thats a 7" size and preferably under £100

If changes need to be made while they are out we just call the cleaner from the office and tell them.
