The History of WFP
« on: August 03, 2018, 07:23:38 pm »
Was thinking how long ago it all started and how it came about.

I have been wfp now for 10 years and even when I got my first set up I was told a few are trialing hot systems.

How long have you all been wfp set up?

Been window cleaning 20 years wfp 15 started with cold ionics pro 5 system 650 ltr , last 4 years have added another one but this time 1000 ltr with a Grippatank 9kw boiler and modified filtration system . When I bought my first system off ionics they were doing a hot system that was gas fired but that was  out of my price range at the time , but the diesel ones are very good

Tucker are usually credited with starting wfp in the states

Over here I think ionics formally ott were the first to provide “ professional “ equipment - lots were doing  diy stuff.

Been going 10 years -9 WFP  and Alex was just getting established (thankfully) and the likes of Dazmond claiming trad was best and wfp was sh!t 😂

WFP doesn't work, any traditional hot PPB and snake oil user will tell you that, luckily in 12 years of WFP cleaning none of my customers/clients/accounts have said the same.

8 years WFP and 17 years on ladders before that.......been hot and cold for years! ;D ;D ;D

hot at the moment..... :)

started with a 50l PF trolley, orange glass fibre pole and 10 barrels, moved on to a 350L rachet strapped down tank ,CLX,SLX and a pumpbox,2 old vans(kangoo then a connect t230),messed around with various gas shower heaters, then finally to a 500L professionally fitted diesel hot water system fitted into a brand new van with all the trimmings, electric reel, xtreme poles etc.... 8)
price higher/work harder!

41 Years window cleaning so far. The last 11 wfp.
Started wfp with a PF trolley intending to get a small van system at some point, but the trolley worked so well for my work that I never made the change and probably nevr will.
I'll never forget the early days with wfp. The fibreglass poles with the heavy vikan brushes. The splinters in the hands were a nightmare and the poles seemed to only last 5 minutes. Now it's much more tuned to our needs it's much more enjoyable.
I can safely say that I wouldn't still be in the game if it weren't for the introduction of wfp

I did come across my first pole at back of garage.  Fibre glass heavy and bendy.  I picked it up and felt the weight and could not believe I used to use it.

If there is any advice for my old self I would say don't bother with cheap poles.

I went from a 25ft fibreglass Xtel with a brick on the end to a 25ft Brodex hydra alloy with a brick on the end, luckily I then joined this forum and discovered Gardiner poles which saved my joints, would say Alex Gardiner has saved the NHS a fortune by not having to treat us all for Brodexes of the joints. lol

I stated in 1985 ratail mops and chamois leather and squeegee's, houses were a £1.50 - £2.00. Accounts were done in a simplex D accounting book, see photo of my 3rd week in December 1985. There was a supplier called Diswinco and Corwords for the window cleaners jackets. I still have the brass Diswinco squeegee from that time. I have been wfp now for about 20yrs, and it really did bring a big change to the window proffesion. I have enjoyed every day window cleaning, the reasons are every day you choose when you start and finish, you choose how much you want for a job, everyday is a pay day, working in fatastic country side, above all customers become friends.

Start my 34yr 1st of December

Dont laugh to much over the earnings back then ;D

What a fantastic place forums like this are, how now you can share and help others.
