Back fires
« on: July 25, 2018, 12:03:39 pm »
Cleaning a clients windows when neighbour 2 doors up comes out to let me know that the neighbour of the clients I'm cleaning, no longer wants me to clean for him.
Which you can tell in their tone that there's some negativity in saying so.  So I quickly let the neighbour know not to worry as I haven't cleaned said client for last three months as he owes for three cleans, which he's had a note about and so I'm waiting for him to contact me as my details were on the note.
Yep that did it, as her face changed and she said no more!

Is it really that hard to read and make contact with the service you hired and have a responsibility to pay.

Yes I want paying and yes he should owe. Clients have to take some responsibility on paying for the service/services they use.
I cleaned his windows and left a note on how to pay and how much he owes. It was dated, photographed and film me posting it. Therefore proof of requesting money and that's as far as I will go.  Prior to this, each clean is followed by a card saying the windows are cleaned and how to pay.
So I wait for them to contact me, failing that they get a John Higgins letter (Mod note: He means Thomas Higgins  :)) in post and it's amazing how quick they pay.

All my customers know I dont collect in the evenings, Old customers know their choices in how to pay. New customers are easy, as its GoCardless or someone else to clean.  So far no one has questioned paying by direct debit out of my new work. It's just my stubborn old clients who don't want to change

Why would the neighbour of  the neighbour your cleaning get involved with an account you haven't serviced for 3 months. Makes no sense to me. But then why you carry a debt for 6 months also makes no sense

Nathan telling the neighbour that he owes you money goes under creditor harassment, lets hope that the neighbour doesn't  tell him what you said and if he does lets hope he doesn't know that he can do something about it.

You film yourself posting it through the door for proof of request of funds....? Really..?

Have you just watched a youtube video of someone spouting this stuff and thought “hey, thats a good idea”?

In trying to force yourself to look ‘professional’, you end up looking unprofessional...and your lack of self awareness then means you post about it on here expecting people to back you up.

Knock his door or ring the customer and talk to them about settling up. You reckon your mortgage/electric/water/gas/insurance etc...would say “Ah well, Nathans a good guy; missed a few payments but I’m sure his good conscience will kick in soon..!”  ?
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

They can do bugger all about it for a single first offence. Worst he'll get is a letter.

And me ::)roll

Why people let Customers go 3 cleans without paying is beyond me ;D

If they haven't paid by the time I go around to clean again they don't get cleaned again till they pay, if it's a customer that continually messes me about it's Go Cardless or goodbye!!

All the above comments are good n interesting.
Reading in  between the lines people can come up with all sorts of judgements.  It's a good job I know the situation and customers well, including the neighbour.  On this little stretch, it's a street where neighbours do actually talk to n help their neighbours and not in a nosie Parker type way.

I have a hand full of customers who pay upfront for a number of cleans and when they catch me will settle up their accounts and perhaps pay again for several cleans upfront because of their work schedules etc.

In this day and age anyone with a bit of savvy will google Thomas Higgins and realise very quickly its not worth the paper it’s written on , some may pay up but the awkward customer who has no intention of paying will be aware of this company’s reputation and not be taken in by it

The moral of the story is, it's better to target customers rather than clients.
When a customer becomes a client, they get too big for their boots and we end up contacting Alex Higgins to settle their account.

I think my fair lady means Harry Higgins. Not Christopher Biggins.
It's a game of three halves!
