I'm in LIverpool and a UU customer, TDS usually around 100. I've had no notice of change of supply, only the hosepipe ban around the 5th August.

same...i think danny might be on a wind up! ;) ;D

Promise you I’m not. I’ll take a pic tomorrow and upload. The letter states that water TDS will be rising and details the difference between hard and soft water etc.

Plenty of peopl I know who are in the same postcode as me have also not received the letter, how localised it’s going to be is anyone’s guess.

its alright i believe you now mate.......like i said it happened a few years ago but my tds didnt go past 105 so i carried on DI only.....it was only for a few weeks then it went back to 030

I’ve no doubt that it will go back eventually, but if it rose to 200/300 for a month it would be a pain in the backside. The tone of the letter is it will definately be going up, not might.

Just buy water off Spotless Water for the duration, its so easy compared to all the faffing around. You just drive in and fill up. The nearest one to me at the moment is about six miles away but they are opening one just down the road.

When they do I'm going to buy all my water from them, we are in a very hard water area, and I know others are of the same mind

I’d just buy an RO tbh mate, I’ve been considering it anyway (it’s probably worth it for me, 2500 litres per week, 075 ppm at present) , I just can’t be assed with the faffing before I go away for most of August.

2500 ltrs a week would cost about £90 a week using spotless Inc vat.

So maybe just chomping through resin would be easier. A bag of resin a week is less then the cost of buying pure

You lot don’t know your born,

I live in the second highest TDS area in Britain.

Anywhere from 550-600ppm.

As I’ve said before, no wonder Daz is minted! His rent is the same price as just my council tax and utility bills, and he’s got some of the softest water in the uk. Cheeky Git.

Still, rather live down south  ;D

Bit of pain for you if your TDS goes up, but I’m sure it won’t be long before it comes back down.

You’re right mate, we are very lucky to have such a low TDS, I feel for the guys who have really hard water and also water meters.

I do find it quite funny when Daz says he couldn’t be bothered with an RO, some people don’t have a choice in the matter. 😂

I’m pretty sure any ride in TDS would be minimal because in general your in a soft water area so bore hole water added to one treatment plant is not going to be significant

Hard water areas have high TDS due to the rock structure where the water is ( that’s my understanding )

The hardness of the water depends where the water comes from. At present it’s rainwater that has been sat in a reservoir so therefore is soft. The new stuff they will be blending in with this water will be from a borehole, sat on rock so will be hard. If it’s a 50/50 mix or a 2/98 mix will be the deciding factor on the hardness at the tap.

Will find out tomorrow I guess.

My water has a TDS of 300.

I use a Gapswater 4040 with pressure pump. This produces water at 7 ppm.

I don’t bother with resin anymore.
