What a pointless thread.

 ::)roll

The point of ro is to reduce how much work the di does. If your tap tds is going from 30ppm tp 130ppm then get an ro. Problem solved.

Fill up your van with the ro water, and pump on demand through di as you use it.

My tap tds is 325ppm. And sometimes hits 350. Blimey guys you would think there was a massive crisis going on here..its ridiculous.

Let's face it, the majority of threads on here are pointless, haha yes even some of mine.
But it's the same topics over n over again, we have to fetch something new to the table but then you get shot down for doing so.
Back ache, hahaha ah or who goes to the gym or even what carvery we've (me) have eaten have nothing to do with window cleaning, not really. I suppose that's why less n less people are commenting other than to start arguments or debates etc.

What a silly post.  ::)roll

If you read the thread title you can see the point of the thread is to warn fellow northern lads that our tap TDS may be rising.

No crisis just that it may take some alterations for some people. You’re not affected, good for you.

It was only last month you were crying about negative responses to your multiple posts about your turnover increase, now you’re doing exactly the same thing to threads that don’t concern you whatsoever.

Whereabouts in Cheshire are you Jonboy?

Still 076 here too. I’d imagine that the new stuff will take a while to blend in.

I'm in Runcorn
on the UU website it says we get our water from Lake Vyrnwy, you get yours from groundwater sources, whatever that means, Salford(Dazmond) is supplied from the lake district

Not sure how accurate that is regarding Warrington. I’ve lived in 3 different parts of town in the last 5 years and the readings have been 029,  076 and 365. The higher reading being in the north of town and the lower two being south. With readings so varied the water must be sourced from different places I’d have thought.

My water has a TDS of 300.

I use a Gapswater 4040 with pressure pump. This produces water at 7 ppm.

I don’t bother with resin anymore.
How long does it stay at 7 though? I get the same output but it doesn’t stay at 7 for that long. Perhaps 8 weeks then creeps up.

People saying using RO is too much faff...

LOL

10 minutes flushing and that’s it. It fills your tank, it stops when it’s full.

You might have to go to the HUGE effort of changing the pre filters once every 3 months, that’s a game-changing 15 minute job.

when i say faff...im on a water meter and no room for a storage tank plus it takes ages to make 500L of pure using an RO..i can purify 500L in less than 30 mins DI only.... :)

I’m also on a water meter, and also do not have a storage tank.

My water costs £3.10 per 1,000 litres (that’s including the sewage charge), so, because RO uses twice as much water as resin alone,  that means each fill of 700 litres costs £2.17 MORE than using resin alone.

Assuming 4 fills per week, and 4.3 weeks in a month, that’s an additional monthly cost of £37.32 in extra water.

Even in a softish water area, I don’t think you could purify 12,000 litres of water using only DI for less than £37, therefore the cost of using RO is less than DI.

As for it taking ages, so what?

It takes approx 4 hrs to fill my 700 litre tank, and so what about it?

You set it filling and forget about it, that’s the whole point.

Yes resin is faster, but I don’t see why that’s an advantage?

Right now I have a 450l tank, Di only in the van. Probably once every week I’ll run out of water, usually on large jobs that are local. I just nip home for my lunch and in 40 mins I can have another full tank ready to go. I couldn’t do this if I needed to go through an RO.

Get a bigger tank etc etc, not possible as 450l is as big as my van can carry without going over the payload.

With a good booster pump we produce a 1000 ltr of pure in 2 hours

Mine peaked at 86 yesterday. They’ve definately added water from another source as it’s never gone beyond 75 before now.

I hardly think we needed a letter sending out for a TDS increase of 11ppm 😂
