Bulk texting - text local etc
« on: July 10, 2018, 08:43:10 pm »
How many of you chaps use text local or similar to bulk text customers ?

ive always done it via my phone but its getting a ballache now on an evening to be texting 20-30 customers each night. then looking whos paid and texing anothe doxen every other night, then routing through facebook messanger etc.  Its getting annoying

I know some software such as squeegee and cp etc have the option to bulk text, but as far as i am aware is it right that they cannot reply to your texts? as much as i hate a cancel or a skip, holiday etc id rather know in advance with a reply. Also sometimes for payment reminders ive messed up and not marked it off so need to see there replys.....

so who uses bulk texts and how do find it ?  seems a bit daft paying money for txt local when ive got free texts on my phone but if it makes life easier...

I have squeegee and trialling cleaner planner.

so sick of sending reminders now, its interfering with my life knowing that i have to sit down for half an hour or more each night and organise worksheets, text locked gates and send payment reminders. 7-8 pm every night im in front of the laptop organising stuff feel like i cant switch off.

Because,.. i mark off all work done for the day in george, then print my work sheet off george then look through and see that 20 need a text (locked gate) so i have to type each number into phone and paste a generic text reminder in.

Then i have to go through bank accounts and paypal, mark off payers, then look through george and maybe text another 20 customer payment reminder, putting the phone numbers in my phone one by one.

its tedious to type 30 or so numbers into your phone every night, its just a chore that does my head in. Its always praying on my mind if i go out anywhere or want to do anything that i have to get back before its too late to sit down and do all this faff.

I just figured software would just be able to text all tomorrows work at the click of a button and send a reminder to all overdue with a few clicks also. Apparently you can set a time for these texts to go out with txt local so i could just do it as soon as i get in freeing up the rest of my evening, or at lest thats what im hoping but i dont know much about it, not tried using it and wondered how practical it is running a business where customers cant reply...

Text Marketer incorporated into Aworka works for me. They can reply.

I've never wanted customer's numbers on my phone personally. We no longer take on new texters for the reasons you said Gomo.

Yes you can schedule the texts. Not sure about text reminders. You can probably make a template for that also but I haven't yet.

I use text local

It take a while (an evening) to put all customers on the database.

I text all my customers through this (set up the day before and scheduled with a time and they send)

You can put your mob number in the msg so they can text back to it. (however defeats the object)

I send out all my generic payment reminders through it also.

I find its best to have as little contact as possible with the customer via text.
(this saves getting silly text messages of customers etc back and at 10pm on a sun night etc.)

If you use the cleaner planner app for your worksheets, the customers phone number is shown with an option to ‘sms’ which takes you straight to messenger, no need to type the number in. Just click, paste a message, send, back to the app for the next one, 20-30 customers takes seconds!

You can set text local to say anything you want as sender details. So theyll get a text from SOUPY (they can't reply) or they get a text from your mobile number (they can reply).

my oh my...........

with CLEANER PLANNER  its so much easier..........i download worksheets to my phone on a friday(for the next weeks work)and when i get in after my days work i purify my water straight away and put batteries on charge(which takes about 30mins)during that 30 mins i upload that days worksheet and print invoices/write out chits for the next days work.......

i only text the odd customer for notification/access,sometimes i go days and days without having to text a customer the night before.....when i do its easy...i go to my worksheet on phone and press that customers phone number.thats it.i just forward a generic text.....

as for payments.thats easy too.i simply log into my online bank on my phone, check whos paid, then tick them off on my CP phone app, press upload, press download latest and i then have my new reduced debtlist.....its that simple....

theres an option to send texts automatically on cleaner planner too(say at 7pm)if you want but ive never used it.....

so say i get in at 330pm,by 4pm im done and dusted and the rest of the day is my own(apart from a few texts i send if i have any which i usually send around 7pm).....

as for texting late payers.its easy to see who s not paid for 14 days(or longer)on the main CP site on my laptop.i simply send them a text reminder if they pay by BACS.this is usually done on a monday evening(as this is my collecting night).

collecting for cash/cheque paying customers usually takes around  60-90 mins on a monday evening 3 times a month and this is getting less and less with more customers paying online......

Squeegee uses text local... but you also have the option of using Twilio which is a bit more complicated but allows you to setup a reply to number.  I believe Squeegee will also soon also give you the option of sending using the your phone allowance which makes the most sense as saves the cost and you get the customer replying direct to you.

You can set a reply number on text local too, at least you can on their dashboard.

Have you not thought about binning the collecting off and replacing with online payers?

Seems an obvious next step , unless of course you like a bit of cash....
