so first day using it today and on the first job i pulled a bit of hose off the reel and the chain came off! ::)roll >:(

very annoying....i had to take 2 chain guards off to access the chain and finally managed to get it back on the cogs after around 30 mins of messing about.it makes it harder as i have very large hands! >:(

im sorry but the build quality of this reel is nowhere near the quality of my manual cox reel(and that was much cheaper).a few things im not happy about....

1.the chain coming off(obviously)....

2.the side plates dont feel very robust for an expensive reel......

3.the rotary brass joint on the side of the reel looks quality but is not turning smoothly(its almost like the spindle is warped)when reeling in/pulling out.....

4.there is a knocking noise every time the reel turns and i cant see where its coming from.....

so all in all first impressions are not very good.it doesnt seem like itll last 5 mins....

When I was there a few weeks ago having systems fitted, I mentioned Cliff Perkins who'd had problems with his first one and they said that if they take a knock in transport the chain mechanism can be a problem because it's quite fine tolerances? Which is why I asked if you'd spoken to them.

ive managed to sort the knocking noise out now.i basically took all the hose off the reel and wound it in fast and it seems to have stopped it.the rotary joint seems ok now....i did notice that my cox reel does the same(slightly uneven when turning).......

lets hope it was just first day teething troubles! ;D

im paranoid about the chain coming off again now so im careful when pulling the hose off the reel(no yanking the hose!).......

the button control is great and it reels in nice and effortless.im keeping the speed at 30 at the moment and i dont think ill be going over 60 as  PF dont recommend it.....its plenty fast enough IMO....

theres quite a bit of resistance when pulling  the hose off the reel......is this normal?(you can hear the motor turning).on the plus side the reel doesnt keep spinning when you stop pulling....which is great.....

i think maybe its just a case of getting used to using an electric reel having used manual ones since switching to WFP 8 years ago....

its like having a dynamo on your bike when you were a kid........(obviously only 70s and 80s kids will remember them!) ;D

I like the resistance- one thing that used to really pee me off with my manual reel was that it kept spinning after I’d stopped pulling! With this one it’s great.
I never knew that about the speed , was it in the instructions lol mines at 99!

obviously wasting 30 mins taking chain guards off and refitting chain wasnt ideal.....i think ill just have to be a bit more mindful when pulling the hose off the reel..........but the actual reeling in was great! ;D

teething troubles methinks.....time will tell.......

YES you need to  hand hold the hose to guide it on the reel(i always have a cloth in mine to clean the hose as i go)while your other hand presses the button....
