Arghhhhh what a day so far!
« on: July 04, 2018, 12:21:45 pm »
So I was cleaning quite a large country style house where the windows are the old wooden slide up style. Now these people are always out and the windows are always closed. The house is covered in ivy and from ground level you cannot see the bottom half of the upstairs windows.
So yes that's right, I cleaned the window n lowered the brush to clean what should have been the bottom half of the window. Obviously it doesn't take long to realise the window isn't there, it must be open and so I turned the water off. Yet unavoidably water went in.
She ain't happy and the room had antique furniture in etc etc.    I just apologised as it was in possible to tell if the window was open.  What would you have done?    Haha don't say check each window next time!

Then my second large house n as I'm packing up the cleaner comes out wanting a word. Saying there's water spots still on window that she has to go round and squeegee off adding to her job list.   NO woman, you leave it to dry. So I had to bite my tongue and educate her so she won't mess the clean up any more!

Hope this day gets better

I once cleaned a down stairs kitchen window on a normal 3 bed semi.

Pulled univalve on and pushed on the glass, the window flew Inwards and my pole went through, I panicked and tried to yank the valve off lol  but must have got flustered as it took me a few attempts.

The water was dripping off the opposite wall and the cooker lol

Why the window opened Inwards I've no idea but it does lol

I never said a word and just put a note through she paid and never said owt either.

Slightly the opposite  for me. Had one yesterday with no one home.  But they left a couple of windows open on the top level. Same issue as above where the window open inwards.

She complained that i did not clean them.  I said would you rather me let a couple of litres of water into your bedroom.  She said  yes.

I just don't get it with some.  It's just like the wife..... Whatever choice I make its the wrong one.

Did a regular last week. Got round the back put my brush on the downstairs living room window and the window just fell out. The beading that held the double glazed unit in had come loose and popped out as I started to clean.  Fortunately for me it didn't break. Just had to help the customer to rebuild her window.

If you going to clean it, then use low flow and be careful.  If you decide to skip a window then always leave a note or text customer and 99% of time they will be fine.  Its when you dont say anything and then they wonder why windows have been left.

I did the backs of a house this week, and just before packing up I was standing fiddling with one of the clamps, water still flowing as I couldn’t be bothered to bend down and pinch the pipe right at that moment.

Anyway, fiddling took longer than I thought, and when I looked up, the water jets had been squirting directly onto the clean washing next door, (in quite an artistic pattern too). Mainly towels and t-shirts.

Their back door was open, so I quickly packed up and left before someone came out.

Good job it’s hot weather, hopefully they dried before anyone noticed.

 ;D ;D ;D

one word.......UNIVALVE!

i see this all the time....WFP window cleaners just walking around leaving their water squirting everywhere in between windows(usually into next doors garden/driveway too).

theres a company near me that do it all the time and i think it looks unprofessional....ok its only water but its disrespectful IMO.....some of his employees even put their pole over their shoulder(as if their carrying a ladder!)with water going everywhere!......muppets... ;D
