Slx or extreme 25
« on: June 21, 2018, 04:15:39 pm »
Hi guys I’m in the market for a new pole around 22 - 25 foot I was going to get a 10 inch carb goose neck the grit stop and uni valve with the slick connect fittings . My question is do I go extreme or slx ? Also I was thinking the DuPont brush as well what are your thoughts and what would you buy .... dazmond I know you have extensively used both I have used clx slx and supermax so far , like them all for different reasons really

the SLX if you want your main pole to last more than a couple of years(or for staff) and the xtreme if you want to make your work as easy as possible with the least possible strain on arms, shoulders, elbows and joints.......

ive been using an SLX 25 for the last 14 months no problem but fancied one of the new v3 xtremes so ive ordered a 25 footer(getting delivered tomorrow).... :)

We have both poles the extream is a bit liter and stiffer but the slx is a much harder wairing and will last longer , in the end it’s a personal choise which you prefer

I work for myself, on my own.
Like Reflections said, the SLX is a solid, reliable workhorse.
If you are concerned about weight for whatever reason, then the Xtreme is excellent.
I've had the Xtreme 25' since it came out. Still on the original, but yes, I've replaced a section or two over the years. Mostly my fault really.
The 22' Xtreme is handy coz it has smaller collapsed height than the 25'. Just a thought.
Also, the dupont brush is fantastic. The natural bristles make light work of slug trails etc in comparison with the nylon only brushes.

My preference is a pole with 1,2 & 3 sections slx and 4&5 extreme sections. I find the weight is fine and wear is at a minimum.

ive gone from
clx
pheonix x
slx
xline carbon
and now extreme

ill never go back to a heavy pole the extreme pole is realy nice it wont last as long but its well worth its price tag its just a case of replace sections when needed wich dont cost a lot when u brack it down  the hole snaping thing i here is not what ive experenced so far alltho u cant bash it like a slx

i thought they d delivered an empty box to my girlfriends house! ;D

i got a gardiners cap, keyring and pen too.....the gardiner pens have gone up in class!its almost as good as a parker pen! ;D

the pole itself feels awesome....so light and rigid....id forgot what its like to use an xtreme 25 after being used to the SLX 25.....

ive got 5 large properties to clean on monday and all of them have got at least 2 or 3 really awkward windows each to clean at  full pole extension so the xtreme will make them easier for sure.....

I use an SLX18 for most of my work and pull out the SLX25 for the odd awkward window above cony's and so on, a SLX25
would be a horrendous pole to work with all day, what where you thinking ?

i couldnt use a 18 footer sean as its simply not long enough for most of my work...i struggled with a clx 22 at one time but even that came up short too often....a 25 footer is the ideal length for a main pole for me.(lots of awkward windows at angles)

i also have quite a lot  of jobs where i need to have my 25 ft pole at full extension just to reach the first floor windows.....

I have refined my work.i just have lots of awkward windows to clean(and large Victorian houses on some parts of my round).....if I had just small 2 up/2down type houses I think I would've stayed on the ladders.... ;D

I reckon an 18 led to me having neck problems because of standing too close. I think a 22 is a better option. For me anyway.

i used to work with slx22 and every year i replace them to keep them fresh and this year i took the plunge and bought an xtreme22 after hearing the v3 is miles better than the last 2 versions and its been spot on for me in the 4-5 months ive used it, im hoping for 12 months and i'll be happy with that.
my body feels great though as i have a dicky football injury shoulder that used to flare up when i had busy days with the slx, totally gone now with the xtreme and another bonus is im working a little longer in the day as i dont feel as worn out so its easily paying its double the price of an slx pole!
one other thing i noticed is the gardiner printing on the pole hasnt come off as quick like my slx's ;D
i wouldnt go back from an xtreme now
