It s not just directed to Spruce , all opinions are welcome. I have outside tap pressure of 60psi with an average TDS of 275. I am looking to get a 4040 RO, with this pressure Im thinking HF5 without a booster pump. I've been looking at a Pure Freedom 2400GPD HF5 but their always out of stock and I am desperate to start producing my own pure, didn't want to get a smaller system and have it running for hours or need to uprate it later. Could Spruce or anyone recommend any other suppliers that I could try. Cheers for any comments
Yes, HF5 membrane is better suited to your water pressure than an HF4.
I would also go for an Axeon membrane.
It will probably be an out of stock item with most suppliers but they will be able to make it up to your specifications pretty quickly.
Do you want pressure gauges?
Do you want 20" prefilters? (I prefer 20" as the Fiberdyne carbon block prefilter lasts twice as long as the 10" Fiberdyne does.)
Do you want the supplier to fit the membrane for you? I think Doug at Daqua offers this service. If so then you need to run the r/o very quickly after you receive it.
Daqua, GAPS water are a couple that will supply.
I wouldn't use Collins water as they supply a cheap Chinese manufactured membrane. I would also hestitate to use VYair for the same reason. (Vyair do sell an Axeon membranes so I guess you could insist they fit that one if that's what you decide to do.)
One of the other options is the type of r/o housing. There is the Champ housing and there is also a stainless steel housing. Gardiners also supply components and have an FRP housing on sale ATM. You could order all the parts from Gardiners and assemble it yourself.
Alex has a video on how to do it.
