Hate working Saturday's
« on: May 19, 2018, 11:36:43 am »
So you may recall i recently gave myself a week off as i was on track and sometimes a little earlier than 4weeks. So to space it out I had a week off.
Well that worked wonders 🤔
The week back was flawed with a number of hick ups, pump playing up // wife falling ill etc etc and so my work is nicely spaced out as im just short of running three days late.  So im having to work on a Saturday and not enjoying it the slightest, never mind all cars in the street making parking a pain so having to use the trolley more. But what a pain, the trolley is great for times like this but I dont know how people can use a trolley 100% of their work,,,,, hats off to em

Since switching to wfp 10 years ago I've not had to work on a weekend.

Re Trolley use, there are places on my round where a Van mount could be used to good effect. However, for the most part a good trolley with 17mtrs of PU hose works better.

Most windies with vans round here tend to stick to houses on road fronts with easy access, but many houses don't have easy vehicular access at the front or rear at all, or without causing a major nuisance to other road users.
Both myself and a couple of friends have found that it's easier, and we can earn quicker with a good trolley than we can with a van mounted system.  I'm nearly 58 years old, have occasional back problems but don't have an issue with lifting a barrel of water onto a trolley. In fact my back was a lot worse when I used to work with ladders all day, and that included most Saturdays.

Theres no where i can go to escape the royal wedding, most of my customers have it on tv.
One of my customers is an old dear with old school views and shes cursing the wedding. How dare they marry a divorcie and shes half black and what happens if their kids are black etc etc.     Wow she has some very strong views

Why do you feel the need to work Saturdays Nathan?

I'm away for 2 weeks so I'll be 2 weeks behind but I certainly won't be working weekends or killing myself to catch up.

Sod that

im the same...when i have a week or two off i just move my schedule forward a week or two....

NO running around trying to cram in extra work to catch up....i just start my normal schedule again when i get back at it.....

IMO when you start cramming in work and working weekends trying to catch up it can make you miserable/stressed etc....i dont enjoy working that way.....

i factor my yearly earnings for 46 weeks out of 52 leaving 6 weeks for holidays(2 weeks at xmas and 4 weeks for holidays abroad/sickness/bad weather etc)......also my work can be completed in 4 -5 days a week so bank holidays and weekends away are no problem.i did recently work a bank holiday monday morning but its very rare....

im off to anglesey for the weekend next weekend for the bank holiday in a cottage for me and the missus(and the dog!)....im hoping the good weather lasts! ;D

It's hateful isn't it! Been working all morning to catch up as the van was in for a repair early in the week and have just finished up.
I detest working Saturdays as you'll spend your time dodging extra cars that aren't there through the week and spend more time chatting to customers as they're usually pattering around the garden.
Today has been a nightmare with a couple having bbq's and family parties for the Royal wedding so I've been having to make more awkward conversation than usual and dodging giving people a good wfp shower as well, I've  made the decision that I'll not be doing a Saturday again ever!

I work 7 days most weeks and double up in the evening with another job i do, am out Mon to Fri 6am till 9pm and weekends start till finish which sometimes are 12 hour days and others just a few hours  depending if a big commercial clean or small.
I enjoy working and earning pound notes.

Don't normally work Saturdays, but I'm working the next few as having an operation which means I can't work for at least 6 months, so getting all our big jobs done now.

Did two gutter cleans, one in Beaconsfield, a big block of flats which we had to remove those stupid, useless gutter blocking hedgehogs, and one near Windsor, thought we'd get caught in loads of wedding traffic but the roads were quieter than ever! First job 3 hours, second job one hour and finished by 1, nice beer and BBQ pub lunch afterwards. Oh and a nice tidy sum earned too!

I never work Saturdays I had years in factories working Saturdays 6 til 4 and worked most Sundays aswel shifts with overtime during the week I might occasionally do the odd couple of hours collect on Saturday mornings but that's it. Ive not worked Fridays on the glass from the start of this year and don't intend to in the future either  ;D

I work hard 9-3 Mon to Friday generally.

Then switch off.

That's plenty of hours
