Are rope ladders best for high ladders?
« on: April 27, 2018, 11:09:10 pm »

Just rented a Zarga 8.6 metre triple and it was too heavy to raise by myself.  I tried to do it with the ladder directly being pushed right up into the air, but  it's too hi gh and heavy to control and use.   Would a rope ladder be better for 7metre+ ones.  It also had one of those wide feet which was a problem as the ground had edging stones round a bed.  A normal ladder would have been narrower and so dug into the bed.

Just go WFP - Not helpful I know, but much safer. :)

Think he means for extending it.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

I used to have one of those 3mt triples from Titan Ladders without ropes. I could push it up fine & I weigh under 12 stone. Don’t do it on a windy day though obviously. Pushed up the top section whilst stood to full extension (3 rungs doubled) and then then the next section. Job done.

A double ladder I used to shunt the final bit up a wall if I couldn’t reach. Not good on pebbledash though!

Can you not just get a cheap camera? Or tape a phone to an angle adapter? I wouldn’t wanna be cleaning gutters regularly off a ladder personally. If it’s gonna be regular why not invest in a vac & camera instead?

I have  a vac, but sometimes you just have to get up there, for example to fix a gutter clip etc.  The 6.1 metre just isn't quite big enough, maybe just one more metre.  I rented this-

It was just too heavy to manoeuvre by myself safely when extended.  The bar at the bottom made it unusable in the place I wanted to use it because of an edging stone.  With those bars, you need a totally flat surface.   I will try and rent another ladder and see how I get on with it.
