I'm buying an electric reel, either pure freedom or waterworks. Anything I should know about either one before I commit struggling to work out which one is best? Any ideas?

I was in same situation about 3 weeks ago, in the end i bought the pure freedom one. its bigger in size but very well made. depending how you use it i found the slow start very handy and the stall protection. i fed mine through the floor so when the very end of the hose with the tap on is coming up through the hole in floor i can just stop and start straight away so it does not come through  the hole give a bullet out a gun .
i use a 110amp battery and charge every night and it runs both no problem all day and i do 8 hour days

Does it have enough power when your reeling it back in or does it stop occasionally?

It stops if it gets caught on something or if you stood on it

The waterworks reel is very very narrow which makes it ideal it’ll pack in almost any part of the van.

We have both reels

Waterworks
Pros -
  no slow start so quicker to reel in, narrower, takes up less space

Cons-
 if you don’t concentrate the hose can go of the side if the drum and get caught in the chain

The motor doesn’t have  as much torque as the PF reel

PF reel
Pros - roller guide stops hose getting caught in the chain

High torque motor  / better geared, probably less drain on the battery, swivel mount option

Cons
The slow start, does make it slower to reel in

I hear the  new WW motor has better torque than the first edition I purchased

If that’s the case, I would choose the waterworks

Thanks for your reply folks.  I'm still a little confused. They both seem good reels but slightly different.  If there were only one reel this would be an easy decision 🙂

Make one as they are so easy and from doing so, later you can upgrade to either one as you will know more from your own experience as to what you would  like and all its cost you is around fifty quid and some of your time.

I fitted some roller guides under my van last week and noticed a big time saving on jobs where ideal parking isn't always possible.  Next job is to purchase an electric reel. Been contemplating which electric hosereel to go for. Ruled out water works for now. Want one with the remote control so I can walk it back in when I finish jobs so it looks like Pure Freedom or Grippatank version. Has anyone any experience with Grippatank's remote electric version and if so would like your honest verdict?
