« on: March 15, 2018, 06:58:22 pm »
in 18 years I have never known anything like it. since christmas
7 customers have moved out of the area
2 customers have sold to move soon
1 customer  up for sale
1 customer  is a paedophile (stopped cleaning)
1 customer died
1 customer gone into care home
4 suspended due to building work
1 suspended due to job loss
1 suspended  due to ill health
4 bad payers (got rid of)
has anyone else lost this number of customers in this short time

It depends on how many customers you have in the first place I would have thought. If you only had 100 customers not good if you have over a few hundred not so bad  ;D

ive lost around 15 jobs in the past few months...9 have died,2 have lost their minds and the rest have moved......

peaks and troughs in this game mate.....

i have started to pick up some new jobs the last few weeks so it evens itself out in the long run.....

No not as many as that but customer turn over is something that happens all the time maybe you are just having a lot at the moment , good thing is that it’s the write time of year to start picking up lots of new work so hopefully the phone will soon get busy 😎😎😎😎

Its a forever changing roundabout.

As long as your having more enquiries coming in then thats good.

I haven't checked properly but I feel that there are more deaths and house moves among my customers this last few weeks.

In fact in the last week I have had 2 deaths of customers (one will continue as the spouse is still going) and two house moves (out of my area) came to fruition.
It's a game of three halves!

So the first ten on your list are potential new prospects and new prices when they are moved into, so thats not too bad provided you get them  ;D
Youll get the four back once building work is finishes.
So on a whole its not that bad, plus how many new customers have you gained in comparison

About 20 since christmas but im up about 50 overall.

Thats what happens when taking on lots of new work and trying to grow though, id be concerned if they were long term customers.

We've been swamped with new cleans, including a large care home, and add ons.

My customer turnaround has also been larger than usual over the past 15 months - mostly deaths and moving house.  Usually, new work coming in replaces it with room to spare, but it's not been like that so I'm having to go out there to top it up.
Since the start of the month I've picked up a couple of commercial jobs - £30 per two weeks and £160 per 6 weeks.  Also, some residentials at £15, £22 and £30, all 6 weekly.

The largest of the jobs is sub-contract.  Although I'm OK with that, I won't be going into it in the way I once did.   There are too many frivolous reasons (or non-reasons) for losing sub-contracted work, and it removes my ability to discuss things directly with the customer.  A job can be lost due to someone else having a problem with their customer, and there's nothing I can do about that.  I lost about £10k - £12k worth of work in a single year once, and none of it was about anything I did or didn't do.  I won't be leaving myself that vulnerable again.

Constantly picking up new work the last two months this week alone 5 new customers, but also in the same time had 4 leave the area and 2 die.

Overall the ratio of new customers far outweighs the old.

I read - or heard on the news (not sure where) - that we're reaching some tipping point in longevity, where people have been living longer, so less deaths in the past, but now time's catching up with them and the death rate for the elderly is going to increase over the next five or ten years.

Work has been steadily flowing in this year but last week was insane. Picked up the following, all monthlies. £170 Care Home, £230 commercial, £80 residential, 2 x £30 residential. Easily the best month for new Work for a few years now.
