Vehicle Options
« on: March 13, 2018, 06:01:20 pm »
Hmmm

So i currently have a van only.

I could do with a car really for weekend/leisure/kids use etc

My GF has a car and i use hers on occasion but meh i want a new vehicle of my own  ;D

So whaddya you lot use ?

Option 1. Run a car and a van
Option 2. Buy a double Cab Van
Option 3. Buy a double cab pickup Truck

Not sure which way to go, if i buy a second car it wont get used much and seems a waste, practically a double cab would be best but i want a pickup

what do you guys uses and prefer?

cheers

Van for work only now, and a cheap run around for taking the kids out, trips to the tip etc. My missus mainly uses our main car for work. I did use my old van for both but all the extra miles over the years soon add up. With my new van its for work only easier to claim on the van as well as its only used for work. Plus if i had a full tank of water in the back i didn't really want to be taking the kids out in it really just in case.

That bit in red...you’ve pretty much answered your own question.

Whether you go for practical or what you actually want is your call really. I’d go DCiV myself if you don’t have/need a ‘family car’ but its easy for me as we have a car that the wife uses predominantly so I just use that for none work stuff.
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

yeh i know but i wanted someone else to answer it

Its a diffcult one for me as i like a nice car but it would only get used once a week or for shop runs which is a waste, on the plus side i could buy a cheap n where if i got a double cab id get a new one so more cost that way. pickups are higher running cost but cool

i love having a car as well.it means once ive come home and sorted the van ready for the next days work i can leave it till the next morning and go to the gym/band rehearsal/gigs/shopping/taking the missus out etc,etc in the car....

...its got to be quite fast too for those weekends away or days out in the spring/summer.....my missus has a car but its a work vehicle too so shes always got curtains and fabric in there! ::)roll ;D

why?

the great thing about having a car as well is your keeping wear and tear on the van down to a minimum(esp with all the weight in the back)and if its regularly serviced it should last a very long time...plus its easier for recording expenses etc...and keeping your work life and chill time separate....

the backs of pickups are usually too short to easily store poles in. and they can be a pain for manoeuvring if parking is tight. but they are nice because the tank is completely separate to the cab so it stays nice and dry in there.

the problem with having the one vehicle is that your always dragging your work tools(poles and brushes) and water tank around with you.....its a pain....its like a ball and chain around your foot! ::)roll

Just buy a good second hand car... you can get a lot of bang for your buck these days. I can't think of a bigger PITA than a pickup for wfp!!

Had about 20  vehicles in the last 15 or so years!

why? because they are too big? or too high to get to the back?

I was going to sell van and buy a new double cab as a one shoe fits all and keep it for 5 years, but i probably would still change my mind, im terrible at making a decision.
