Best Addon you've done?
« on: March 12, 2018, 01:56:26 pm »
So today i did an addon job which was paid for over a month ago by a customer of mine.  I quoted the job high, because last few months i feel i have been underquoting on my services for addons so i have now massively upped prices.

Well the job was done in 2 hours and it was very thorough, there was 2 of us and we averaged £115 per hour.

Just want to know, is that good or bad for you guys?  For me thats the best hourly rate i have ever achieved in this specific type of business.

Usually though we average like £60 per hour on addons but trying to get those numbers higher.

What we saying?

I do some pressure washing too, I cleaned a few caravans the other year at a local caravan park which was quite profitable and probably my most lucrative day of “add ons” or “extras”

What's wrong with discussing prices on here?  We are all adults aren't we?  If anything if we all put our prices up together, customers would have no choice but to pay the prices.  Well except for the £3 a house shiners that claim benefits and it's all beer money lol.

I feel like an a forum we should all be able to be honest and open about everything.

For me it's good to know what the average window cleaner is charging so i know if my prices are too low or too high compared to the averages(not factoring area into this)

I didnt mention it for that reason.   For instance recently I have implemented a minimum charge for cleaning windows which is ten pound.  In Doncaster there are plenty of ex mining communities hit hard with the economy. Yet pick that house up and put it in a more effluent area and I would charge £15 instead.    So prices are influenced by the economy of the area. Now take that same house and base it in London and your probably looking at around £20 - £25 mark.
So all the shiners on this forum are spread throughout the UK and that foreign place...... Scotland 😂😂 so peoples prices vary greatly so you can not gauge your prices this way. Only way you can is with people in your own area

Good post

when prices are discussed on here, quite often we are not comparing like for like

Compared to a lot on here i would think my prices are poor, but when i compare them to whats in my area i know my prices are a lot better than most, which is all you can aim for.

You need good prices but you also need to get the work.
The higher you price the less work you win, the lower you price the more you win.
Its deciding what % of quotes you need to get or want to get that will decide your price, its logical... just starting out and need work go in lower, dont want the work?  go daft, somewhere in between? then find that happy medium.

I cleaned the gutters out on a girls place last week who is the administrator for a small commercial job we do.

Afterwards, once I’d dropped the fella off who works mith me, she text me inviting me back for coffee.

Looks like she’s got a window cleaner as a boyfriend after last night 😃

As an add on that’s not bad.

Manipulating prices is actually illegal. Wether its here or FB etc... we see prices discussed often, and people are slated as mugs or dreamers depending upon where they sit with their prices against your own (not you personally).
Also as regards addon and extras............... its generally the same clueless muppets saying..... i'm getting £450 for this tomorrow.... and the night before they where asking on FB... "whats hippocloright and how you apply it?". They're doing everything from softwashing, to roof scrapes, UPVC renovation and gutter clearing........  The next day............"whats best way to get bird crap off a conny window? "
Us window cleaners are the next generation of.... "i've some spare tarmac, you want your drive re laying while i'm here" or "i've lovley red paint that i can spray all over your roof tiles and stop mould and fungus"................ chancers who aint got a clue what they're doing.
Having said that, i can see how unsuccsesful window cleaners might wanna chance their arm at any job to hit a big daily take (wether or not they actually know what they're doing) , they've nothing to lose. Ironically if they're asked to clean an interior window then they can't do it.
Just thought i'd mention that as we're being honest and open  ;D

Just seen this.. Don't be ridiculous Bumgle! I wouldn't do that. Instead I would come on to a forum and just tell lies about what we do, much more fun that way as I have nothing else to do. And then people never actually know whether it's true or not. I could say I subbed a pressure washing  job out and didn't do any work but got £9.5k for it, now that would be a great lie! Maybe I could come and work for you if that's ok?

He is currently up and coming and has expanded a great deal, he's doing well to be fair to him.

It was a long time ago and I probably didn't charge very much for the job.  It was a gutter clean from a ladder.  On the previous window clean she asked me to clean the gutters next time around.  So I gave a price (so long ago I can't remember what it was).  The next time I showed up it was a bitterly cold day.  The contents of the guttering were encased in ice.  Luckily, I had a hammer with me. The whole lot came out in huge chunks.  Job took ten minutes.
