WFP Sureflow Pump Flow Issue - Help Required!
« on: March 11, 2018, 03:52:39 pm »
Hello all.

I have a 9 month old Pure Freedom setup, van mounted.

Last week I had a water flow issue whereby the flow at the brush was getting weaker and weaker. I removed the brush a few times and blew out the jets, which seemed to make a difference. But I now believe that 'fix' to be a coincidence.

Eventually the flow stopped completely and has remained stopped.

I've checked the pump strainer, which was completely clear. I've checked all hoses for kinks or blockages, taps all turned on, etc. Nothing.

The pump is making its normal noise, and this changes according to the controller setting. But nothing at all coming through.

I've also disconnected the 'outlet' hose from the pump but nothing comes through.

I've also tried to calibrate the controller, but I'm not sure it's calibrating correctly as the pump's not pumping anything.

Finally, despite no flowing water, I'm also not getting a 'dead-end' code (de).

Any ideas, please?

Cheers.

Matthew

What’s your calibration set on? If you’ve accidentally put it down to zero then nothing will pump through. Have a look at ‘spring controllers’ on youtube

I would put it down to a diaphragm being shot myself , did you by any chance have a frozen pump at all last week ?
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

First I’d charge your battery, like a proper overnight bench charge.

(When you unclip from your reel and drop it outside your van, does the water siphon through even if the pump isn’t working?)

If still no good and controller is calibrated then this -

Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Autp calibration doesnb't eem to be working, so I've manually set the calibration to 50 in the pursuit of a fix, but no joy.

battery ?

Battery is only 9 months old and is on a Split-Charge Relay. The battery readout on the controller shows 12 v.

This sounds feasible, as we had some really bad weather last week.

Thanks for all the replies - much appreciated.

Regarding the diaphragm........I was actually using the pump and it was working well for a while before the flow dropped off and eventually stopped altogether. Does it still sound like the diaphragm?

Also, can the diaphragm be replaced or is a complete new pump job?

Thanks again for all your input with this.

:)

12 point what? (What number after the decimal?)

If its just 12 then when your pump is on, there’s a good chance the volts are dropping below 11.8 and the comtroller is showing low battery and cutting the pump off.

Try leaving your van running if you have a spilt charger and then running your system with it on.

If it runs fine then your battery needs a proper bench charge.

Before you do anything you need to "prime" the pump- this could simply be air ingress. Put  a piece of hose pipe on the outlet of the pump, switch the pump on and then -with your mouth suck water through the pump. You will hear the tone of the pump change as water enters it, this is when you stop sucking!👍This should sort it. If it does but the problem persists, fit a non-return valve after the tank outlet.

If your battery is only 12 volts, then you’ve got a nearly dead battery.... don’t let it go lower than 12.4volts.

Yes , now we know the voltage is low that could be the reason , if its the V11 Spring i think you can overide the low volt setting on the contoller , i believe its in the book or on youtube as to how .

Pump controller says 12.0. Tried running pump with van running, but still no flow.

Hooked up my Voltmeter to battery (engine off)..... reads 12.35 v.

This has sorted it - thanks so much. Still issues when I re-connect the pump outlet to DI, but at least I know the pump and battery are okay.

It looks like I have air in the DI tank, now, which I think I can sort.

If I need anymore help I will be back.

So impressed with the level of support on here....truly excellent. Thank you all. :)

All air locks now removed.

What I did notice is that it was impossible to suck the water to the pump until I nipped up both the inlet and outlet jubilee clips and the wing nuts to the pump. I think air had been coming in/out at those points, eventually causing a dry pump and a need to prime it again.

I do feel the battery is part of it too, as I don’t have a great deal of work at present, so van not being driven all that much to get battery well charged.

As a newbie to wfp, I’ve learned loads with this.
