Renault traffic. Preregistered.
« on: March 07, 2018, 05:56:11 pm »
Any one bought a van that's being imported and pre registered. Ordered one from Renault retail. Suppose to be delivered to church fenton then on to me. Ordered the 19th feb  to be delivered in 7 to 10 days. Now they are saying could be next week I know the weathers been bad but all roads are clear now.  Just wondered if any one else has had the same problem

That's true frustrating though using a hire van at the moment 60 quid a day. But at  least im earning something. Had the van at a good price so ill just have to suck it up

This will be part of a deal on the back of arriving stock from their storage facility (which could be a muddy field they can't get access to - hence delay.) If its imported then I'm confused because they are made in the Vauxhall Vivaro van factory in Luton.

They are pre registered because they need to boost this period's sales figures and pre-registering them is a way of doing that.  Its also a way of moving unsold stock so it wouldn't be newly off the production line. The down side is one more owner on the log book and you only get the remaining guarantee as first registration started the warranty period.

The van I have now was originally pre registered. It was registered to the dealer in December 2012 and sold to the 'first owner' in March 2013.

Thanks for your comments spruce looks like I might be wrong about being imported. The salesman said he is waiting for it to be delivered to Southampton then upto  church fenton leeds  I assumned it was coming from abroad. Theres a 4 year guarantee on the traffic so I will have 3 years left it was registered march 2017. Once again thanks spruce always helpful.

That sounds wierd to me.  I always thought  that they could not be registered until they arrived in the UK.  All part of the coc compliance.

All there vans come from France.  I bought mine from new. Took about 6 weeks in total. From arriving in county then being registered to me taking delivery of a brand new same day registered van

Interesting is that Fiat have dropped the Scudo PSA rebadged van in favour of the Renault Trafic under the name Talento.  I didn't know that.

Sorry; just woken up. PSA recently acquired Vauxhall and Opel in Europe from GM so this isn't surprising.
145hp twin turbo 1.6 hdi engine - thats scary.

Wow! That 145 hp twin turbo engine produces 340nm of torque (max) at 1500RPM.
The 90hp 2.0 hdi engine produces 340nm of torque at 1750RPM.

If I was getting a pre-registered 17 plate which was registered a year ago I would expect it to be on a forecourt locally. With it coming to Southampton could it be coming in from Jersey?  if that's the case it will have to be registered again meaning you would be 3rd owner.  I would check this out.

Thanks ks wish I had just gone to local dealer now.  I'll check tomorow. It was about a thousand pound cheaper though so perhaps worth it.

For and extra grand you should be able to find a brand new one 18 plate with 6 miles on clock.

I've seen the sport model onn offer for £14k which is what I went for.

It's been a great van.  However my mate had one too and within a year the gearbox went.  Was covered under warranty but took 2 months to replace.  The usual story that there was a shortage at the factory in France

Yes they gave him another van.  But if it was for our industry it would not have been kitted out system.

Thanks Paul going to have the new van fitted either grippatank or waterworks but will keep all my gear just in case. Thats how I'm working now in a transit hire van with 500 litre tank strapped down and a pump box.

Yes mine fitted with grippa too.

You can always work with a gardeners back pack if worst comes to worst.

Enjoy it. They are great vans to drive. And punchy too.  Only needs servicing every two years and comes with 4 years rac

Is that including the VAT Paul?  If so that's a cracking price.  Where was that deal offered and is it still available?
