very strange...why would you want to hump your reel about everywhere?its much easier to have a fixed reel in the van ross.....

Daz, not very strange. Just well thought out. Why would anyone want to pull out a thick heavy hose around all types of obstacles and then have all the arm ache winding it back? Or, need an electric reel?

I have my set up with a small 8 year old Clabber hose reel with 100m of hose that I can walk with and it unwinds as I walk or I can reverse the set up in under 10 seconds so as I can leave the reel in the van and pull the hose out depending on the job. I have the best of both worlds plus it's microbore. It weighs little by comparison and takes up less space and I've been using the same sureflo pump for 8 years.

The hose I use is Stream Line nitrite rubber also 8 years old. Very soft and lays flat in all weathers and isn't a trip hazard.

To me it's a no brainer and when I see other window cleaners with thick hose I just wonder why?

i use microbore like you ross(like most window cleaners these days).i still cant work out how you work by walking away from the van with the hose reel in your hand unreeling as you go... ??? ???im confused.....

your reel is plugged into the van system so how can you walk away with it? ???and (the end of the hose on the reel) plugs into your pole so how can you unravel as you walk away from the van?it doesnt make sense......
price higher/work harder!

My guess is he has it backwards. The end of the hose is connected to the pump. He connects his pole to the side of the reel.

It's weird.

Ross is a nice guy but sometimes he literally has got his head plugged in the wrong way round.

It's simple as it will have say a claber male going from the hose reel (normally the inlet) to the pole hose (possibly 30m)  and on the other side it will be a claber female with a male/male adapter to another claber female connected to the pump outlet hose.
I've heard and seen it before but as most folks want a fixed reel to reduce manual handling with them lifting the reel in and out it will make you wonder. Guys will wheel them from the van and even attach another reel onto it and carry that into the garden. It will stop the snags but increasing pressure on your back carrying it around lop sided.

The end of the hose that normally the pole hose is attached to is attached to the hose that comes from the tank. In other words it's in reverse to how nearly all windies have it.

I pick up the hose reel and walk off with it and it unwinds as I walk.

Or, I can have it as normal.

It's not that heavy either.

Also, and my mistake, it's not 100m long, it's 100ft.

Sorry Mr Clean, and I don't want to sound rude, if you're not open to ideas about how to do things better or different or at least think about it then how did you get to be where you are now?

It's so easy to dismiss what another says but if I'm saying it makes my working life easier, having been a window cleaning for nearly 20 years, then isn't it worth looking at rather than just taking the p?

That's what this forum is about, sharing ideas. If it's not for you then fine but at least be polite about it. Daz didn't take the p.

He asked questions which is fair enough and I tried to answer.

So when your finished at a property....... you’ve then got to walk back to the van with the reel winding in as you go? Or do you carry it back to the van and then reel in?

That can’t be efficient mate.

I literally pull up To a job (within 100 metres) take my pole out the back, reach under my rear bumper to Grab the hose, and walk to the furthest point. Once I’m finished I just disconnect pole
Hose and walk back to the van, secure the pole, and then push a button which reels my hose in about 20 seconds.

Efficiency is key, and no way could your way be efficient, unless I’m Really Missing something?
