Yes it is a bit tight, but these are 4-5hour working days maximum, so.
By time i am hitting 60k a year i will have another van and a part time worker to balance out the work a little.
As i approach 80k i hope to have a full time employee, and then onwards to stage 2.
Genuine question; out of interest if you can clean £1600 a week on your own, why do you need an employee when you hit £60k worth of work?
You’ll be £20k short of work for one full time person (you) and you’ll then have a wage of around £26k a year so you’ll basically be in the exact position financially you’re in now (unless I’m missing something?)
You dont have to answer if you don’t want to, I know its a bit of a ‘delving into financials’ question.
Of course, its a perfectly legitimate question.
Personally for me;
i have had enough of window cleaning. I want the business to get to a stage where i don't actually have to do the work anymore by the time i am 40 years old. I turn 38 this year and i figure by the age of 40 if i continue with this plan i should have a self running window cleaning business where i no longer
have to do the work myself if i don't want to.
At 60k turnover i will be able to still live, and pay my bills with a part-time worker, with my reduced time on the glass. At that stage my job will change from full time window cleaner. to part time window cleaner, and part time canvasser. Then the last 20k push will happen relatively quickly because i will have 1, the time to do it 2, the energy. Then when I hit 80k turnover, i will employ a full time window cleaner, with a good salary and bonus structure, my job will change again from part-time canvasser to full time canvasser & business developer and i will get more work, and do the window cleaning for a while again until i get another employee to do the work. I will simply repeat this process.
Window cleaning is a great little business to be in, but i want new challenges in my life. Bramar Ltd is the vehicle for those new challenges with the StockClean branded window cleaning business, i might go into drain jetting, or even commercial window cleaning again. I will also look for new avenues of business with Bramar Ltd directly later on in life, possibly in facilities management.
Unfortunately though i still have bills to pay, rent to find, and kids stomachs to fill. So the window cleaning is very much the only way i can sustain any financial injection into my future plans. I don't have a house to sell to do it, or lottery winnings or money inheritance. i have to to it the slow way unfortunately.
But keeping these goals in mind, has made me enjoy my window cleaning business again, because i have a goal and a direction of what i want to achieve with it.
Hope that's a bit more helpful.
