To be honest when maintained fused with cables maintained and in conduit. The controllers will last a long while and could outlast a pump motor.

There may not be a sign the controller is about to fail. More likely it will just stop working.

Thanks Ian , thats great , i cant complain at all as its earnt its dollar over those 8 years !

I am wondering about the pump too though , it has never even had a new PS , well it did get changed the other day to see if that was the issue , but the one that went in was the same if not older .
My question is though , will a pump behave differently over time , like the controller or is it a case of working or not ?

Im just trying to work out which to replace first , the pump seems the more important one to have running as like i said its done its time and i dont want it to totally let me down on the road .
The controller has only been problematic since this cold spell , and could well go for a few more years yet .

What are your thoughts ? TIA

You mention the motor squeels occasionally in the morning's this may mean it draw higher current and activate  the pump psl. This might cause the control to shut down. Changing the pressure switch could extend the life of both. You may also find that once this very cold period passes it is all fine.

The cold is a factor and is causing pressure to rise due to the stiffer hose wall and fittings.

Yes i think you are right , i have a suspicion that after Friday is out the way and the temps rise a bit the system will return to normal operation or close to anyway , but having said that i think these 2 purchases are a must in the near future being Monday morning , i think i have had what they call a 'Warning sign'

I just brought the exact same the other week, you will also need the strainer for the pump http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/wfp-delivery-pumps/aquatec-inline-strainer-push-fit-1-2-or-3-8-2nd-attempt.html if you want the pump warrenty to be valid (unless you have a strainer already i guess) however for the price i just got that one as it already has the john guest fittings attached to it.

Yeah exact same, been using it for about a week or so until the beast from he east came  , first time i've used a spring controller. I've always used veristream controllers the only slight negative i have compared to the varistream is you have to press the off button (enter button) for about 3-4 seconds before it turns off as with the varistream it was instant, turning on though is pretty instant.

But on the plus side it gives you actual battery voltage when you want to check it (the varistream didn't do this) plus you can have 2 saved user settings for different flow & pressure dead end and you can be more accurate with the flow rate and pressure settings then a varistream. Took me a couple of houses or so to get it setup right.

The aquatec pump is better then the shurflo/flojet type pumps IMO 6lt a min and runs very quiet, my aquatec booster pump that i had for my old 300gpd system lasted about 8 years before it needed replacing so i'm hoping this version of their pump is as robust, overall I'm pleased with them.

I got four of those Aquatec pumps (2 in a Pure Freedom guise & 2 in Window Cleaning Warehouse). They work great. Quiet & a lower amp draw than others.

I also got four V11 Spring Digi Controllers (2 Gardiner's & 2 Streamline I think). All work great.

Thanks for the reviews guys , that is what i will order then , part of me wanted to get another  identical shurflo as i have 2 others to butcher should the worst happen , but i dont think the quality that used to be there is quite the same , i have heard of many of them failing sooner than they should .

I think i will just get the pump to start and see if the old spring controller i have is giving up the ghost , as i have an ebay controller as back up if needed i wont get caught out .
The power down delay wont bother me as i have 8 years experience in that field already
