wise to work today?
« on: February 28, 2018, 07:33:58 am »
According to the met where I live today the temps are not going above freezing all day.

The feel like factor is not going above -7, its calm and no snow.

I am just concerned that if I go to work today I will be creating a hazardous situation on peoples walkways, even if I cloth the doors there will still be water that could freeze on other parts of the path's. Apparently hot water freezes quicker than cold and my tank has been hooked up to the immersion for two nights on the run.I never get behind schedule and it bothers me that I am.

Should I just sack it all off till next week?

What's every one else's plans?

So we ended up with some snow after all. Its been 8yrs since weve had some.
So is it only me contemplating working then!?  Hot water in van and transfer to trolley.   No trip hazards

I hooked up my immersion yesterday so i really want to try it out

but i think its all a bit daft, its been snowing for a few hours here and the roads look quite bad, plus its supposed to be -1 max all day.

I hate having weeks off like this though, prefer to have a week off and actually plan to do something rather than sat around looking at the weather.

We're off to the pics to see Black Panther (Wor Lass's choice), then it's a cheat meal (we do the low carb thing), and then this afternoon we're off to the gym.

We're going to spend the day playing. ;D

at the end of the day go out and work if you want but this very cold weather isnt gonna last longer than the rest of the week and the weekend.....

we ll all have forgotten about it by  next week...

if i wanted i could probably go out and do a couple of hours here  but ive made my mind up to have the rest of the week off, rescheduled my work and even printed invoices/downloaded worksheets to my phone ready for monday... :)

one of my neighbours woke me up at 1230am banging on my door shouting "your van sounds like its gonna blow up!" ::)roll ;D

it was the frost stat on my heater kicking in....its coming on 4 or 5 times a day at the moment in this freezing weather! ;D

Im thinking if and its a big IF,  ut lets say the sun is out tomorrow and its about 1 degrees and not snowing.    Would you work?  Or like i did in 2010 with the bad snow, you wait n wait and then in the end you have no choice but to go out anyway. So might as well go out if that's gonna be the out come.

For me, december n Jan was awful as we had that cold bug in family and i had about 4weeks off.  It really mucked up my rounds.  If i get finished in next couple of days then I have it back on track for March.  If not it will be another month if rescheduling and working my behind off to ensure its back on track for April and this is whats motivating me to get out and use the trolley

cut yourself some slack mate...im like you and keep to my work schedule most of the time but you should factor in that these bad weather events happen from time to time, just as illness/injury can keep you off work so can the weather on rare occasions...

my advice would be to reschedule your work(do it today)for next week and relax.....get around to doing the DIY jobs you normally dont have time to do...or spend a bit more time with family/friends...etc,etc...

im gonna sort my wardrobe out and chuck out some old clothes, squeeze in another workout in the gym to go along with my normal 3 workouts  a week, get my hair cut and take the dog on a few longer walks this week.... ;D

I had exactly same thoughts as you mate.  I hate getting behind but im just not feeling the vibes with this weather and customers defo dont like it.

Considering sacking off till next  week then starting march ready to go full steam ahead.  Its a pain as february hasnt been a good month for us but i guess you win some you lose some.

At this point im really thinking of binning the week off.  First time ever for me due to weather lol.

ive never had 4 weeks off because of a cold mate......in fact ive never had 4 weeks off in 25 years of window cleaning!the closest i came was 3 and a half weeks off with a torn ankle ligament a few years ago...

Not that simple daz when youve got a family mate.
We all came down very ill, i was well within a couple of days but the wife n kids werent. Since there'll young, (1,3 n oldest) and home schooled if the wife aint well I need to stay n watch em. So the time buikt up.
I had a scare of an heart attack last wknd, but doctors said it was a torn pectoral muscle. This was on saturday and monday i was back to work..... All be it nice n steady.
Thats why im not letting a bit of snow stop me. Its crazy, a little bit of snow can bring people to a halt!
Haha tho my van didnt nearly start and wherei was heading a customer has texted saying most people are snowed in and itsnot safe on street...... Its rural.  So im just doing what i can today but its better than giving in
