Hi guys,
Just ordered my lpg propane water heater from Amazon ,looked on youtube but cant find a video to show if the pump is before or after the lpg heater or does it matter.

None of it matters in the end.........

Either way it could potentially turn into a fire ball.

 

I don’t use one anymore, but when I did, I used it both ways. Pushing water through the heater seemed to Work best. Rather than the pump sucking water through it. Less airlocks etc.

It also is better for your pump to have it before the heater, if you have the heater on full heat it will be a bit much for the pumps to handle.

I have mine after the pump. I just have mine on the minimum heat setting and it's plenty hot enough.

I have mine before, it supply’s two reels.  Works perfectly

Just be safe mate. Every day check for leaks and you’ll be fine, and disconnect the bottle every time you move the van.

The lpg was just too much faff for me, plus nearly
Set fire to it. 🤦‍♂️

I personally wouldn’t want gas a friend of mine has one and I wasnt impressed with it but why do you need to disconnect the cylinder between jobs ? That’s not practical , I have a camper van and the gas bottle isn’t disconnected from one year to the other turning it off maybe but that would be a nightmare working like that ide rather go cold

Apparently that’s the safest procedure to prevent leaks. Atleast turning the bottle off would be the minimum.

It’s also best practice to have a vented cupboard for the cylinder, in case there is a leak. No vans have these though. It’s just not practical to use lpg I don’t think.

This is just what i have said on another thread , if you respect gas then you will be fine , i turn my bottle off when not in use or when the van gets moved , even if 20m down the road .
Calling it a faff is a bit far , you have to get the pole out the back on every job , what is the hardship in turning the bottle valve a couple of times whilst there ?

Mine had a leak at the gas inlet.  the rubber hose and a tiny hole.

Then somehow that gas leak managed to ignite itself on the naked flame inside the boiler. I just happened to pop back to the van and saw flames at the bottom of the boiler. I’ve never moved so quick in my life. I threw it in the bin after that.

I’m sure you can be 100% safe with them, IF you take all the necessary precautions. But then again of something malfunctions you would be in trouble. For me, it’s either immersion, or diesel heater now. Lpg just isn’t worth the risk.

if i were you lads id take the gas heaters out...they are dangerous...after my scare i now know why my local gas engineer said to take it out.....i didnt heed his advice until i had my little accident.....and i used to be extra careful......

also what a pain changing gas bottles all the time!have you ever noticed (just when you want really hot water for that add on job)that the gas runs out half way through!

thats my pet hate when the dam flame blows out   and  also when the gas gets low and u can only get luke warm i think ill up grade at some point this year the frost protection thing on the diesel heaters sounds realy nice to

The gas heater are great mate, never had a problem in 6 years  and never turn the gas off unless I’m going away, maybe I’ve been lucky, but life’s a bit like that isn’t it😀
