Heading for a record single month in march
« on: February 22, 2018, 08:41:42 pm »
Wow, bookings for march are approaching 5k. If it goes over 4,850 that will be a record for me.

Feb's new customer signups are diabolical! and loosing that pub, and one other custie who went to quarterly has really made my 80k target for 15 months look like a pipe dream!

VERY FRUSTRATING

oh well keep on goin

Keep grinding mate.

I made an audacious target of 80k by the end of the year, I started on 40k or so. I'm now up to 48k and have 1st employee on board 2 weeks in.

Looking to get another van in next couple of weeks and continue the push in march

Keep taking action.

You should beat me to 80k as your prices are double mine, I'm up to 370- 380 customers roughly from about 320.

Don't be afraid to spend money at it, I've spent about 1700 quid on canvassing/leaflets and FB ads this year! This year everything (or most ) of what I earn is going back in.

I'm not so sure i will Adam. I think your going to obliterate me.

I am on £48,831 at the moment. 295 customers. Its still just me, no employee yet. Will be looking to get another van by the end of the year, with employee at approx 60k (that's when i can afford it lol) for my 15 month push to 80k.

its fun though!

Funny enough..yes. 4 days a week one month

approx 3.5 days a week on the alternate months

if i got to 5 days a week for me only that should be 80k

I got a nine letter word on Countdown through a customer's window yesterday.
'Transient' it was. Appropriately.

Your average price must be low for Surrey to only have that from 295 customers.

Average price for me is around £28, its ok. Granted its not the most expensive but i do keep my customers for a long time and have very little turnover.  There are some shocking prices here for window cleaning, that i will just not entertain! One company wanted £65 for a three bed semi here recently.

Most of my houses are normal houses, i do have 10 or so really large mansions, well priced but i prefer bashing through the houses. On the days i do work i normally clear around £350-£400, my worst days are £220 ish

And i do have a lot of quarterly customers, so thanks for your positive words mick!

I know turnover is for vanity but I can't get close to 80k on my own. I could probably do 50k if I was committed to 5 days a week 8 hours a day, but it's not sustainable for me I'd burn out.

My employee is only 16 hours but what I want to do is get him out taking some pressure off me so I can actually think, maybe free up a day a week so I can start working on advertising If working 8 hours a day plus doing the van maintenance, quotes, paperwork etc couple with a busy family life it's all a bit too much and ruins the focus.

Like you say it's all good fun trying to grow, sure beats the hell out of just going through the worksheets every week with no direction.

But I think from what I've read you are like me with a history of depression and if your brain works how mine does this kind of thing gives you a sense of direction and  occupies the mind. I find when things get a bit stale it's easy for me to revert to type and start slipping back into the grasp of the old black dog.

You know what Adam, that's a lovely sentiment to share.  I actually have a lump in my throat. That darn black dog nearly arrived Monday when i lost that pub. But then i went through my thought processes and was able to bring it under control. Just want this winter to finish already!

I picked up one new one today so thought I'd ask in the street and picked up three more big houses. Spent the day in  one street doing big houses, ideal !!

Marc, incidentally i am also on a push to roughly 80k per year.  Dont have a timeframe as of yet, but March is also looking like biggest month for us aswell.

Be good to see your progress, hopefully it will spur me on to keep going same with Adam too.  Good to see others and how they are progressing with their goals.

Keep up the good work!!

Its my current full domestic customer list.

All my rounds.

Are you commercial? Becouse it looks like it from your website..(if i have the correct one)  if you are  it would explain your comments. 295 commercial customers??i would also expect much more than 48k for commercial work, more like 250k

£48.831 divided by 12 months is £4069 . Divide that by 295 customers is £13 per house average price or have i worked that wrong?

A realistic view of what we can do ourselves certainly always has to kick In at a certain level

Once you can step back a little from the pyisical daily  work, you get a chance to see clearer where your going

For me it was the wife coming on board, she does all the behind scenes stuff, all I do is schedule the rounds each day, still yet to get the reordering on cleaner planner set up as I like to plan the routes for the guys as some are still getting used to the area

But when you can refine your routes maximise each day and see areas where you need to increase and restructure for me is important as I cover over 20 square miles then the growth becomes fairly natural

I think some one said in a comment don’t be afraid to spend or invest and I agree this last two years all I’ve seemed to do is spend, this year another van and sysytem  and another guy end of the year

I fit the vans out with hot water and electric reels just makes the work easier for all. And they seem to maintain a better level of quality if there not so tired

The most satisfactory feeling is after a year of training and guiding, allowing someone to grow in there own technique watching them quiet happily using a 60 foot pole without thinking and enjoying there job

Hope it continues to go well for you both enjoy the ups and downs of growing your business

Love posts like this especially as I'm trying to grow my business and drive it to the next level at the age of 59! I lost fourteen dental practices last year worth £700 a month ( They decided they wanted to save money so got their maintenance men in to do work) It was a blow for a few months but I've fought back with new advertising campaigns and I'm now seeing the business grow again. Last months new customers brought in and extra £300 and this month is going same way!
My target for next twelve months is £5,000 a month!
