Turning away what should be straight forward commercial gutter clearing.
Accepted the quote but requested insurance and rams. So before uploading anything which for me on my laptop takes an age I informed them that with it being a low roof and due to the debris commonly found such as bottles pallets etc the ladder would have to be used and offered to carry it out at the weekend to reduce any risks.
Today they asked if the ladder had a hand rail or platform and I thought why am I fecking about sending emails for £150 what should be two hours including travel and I'm back and forth for a h&s exercise.

Quite a few of my places insist on insurance check before allowing work to be done on their premises.

That parts fine but for someone to look at the rams before hand and then when I turn up there's bottles of wine and bottles of p and bits of pallets etc in the guttering I'd need to go up the ladder so I pointed this out before I went to the effort of sending documents. I've seen things like Hgv drivers being pulled up for exiting the cab the wrong way from jumped up people and I was reported for walking up stairs with my piece bag in one hand and it leads to time being wasted on a chat with the h&s man. The difference now is it's on my business time and I'm not messing about for a small job. They have bigger buildings and there turnover is over 20m so I know they will have to carry out their work on sites that require over the top safety but for a poxy gutter on a dump of an industrial estate their having a laugh.

lal, I think I'd need some body armour for that one and a tetanus jag afterwards. There's another section at the front which is OK and one in the middle but they need to confirm which ones are to get done. If it's all three then I'll rope onto the fence and  something rigged up with the vac or a brush but if they ask for rams I'll tell them thanks but no thanks as well.

This is the height of the one I've walked away from. It's actually at the back behind a fenced off area and a 5m length at the front above the roller door.

Bear in mind that that's quite a picturesque photo but in reality the back is probably got four foot high weeds growing out of it hence the quote of around 150.
