Van Insurance renewal
« on: February 14, 2018, 03:41:53 pm »
Just got an email about my renewal, premium has increased by 20% >:(.  Insurance is one of these industries where loyalty isn't rewarded. Time to shop around again!

Captive custom. Since they made it LAW to have a vehicle insured at all times unless its declared sorn they have you by the short and curlies.

My renewal was nearly £700 and they hope you forget about it.

They also have the monopoly of the market. All these insurance comparison sites are a front as are the brand names, most of the insurance companies are brokers now, and are changing the business model from being independent underwriters, in favour of brokerage for higher commissions. There are now only a handful  of underwriters in the market all giving the brokers various commissions. Its a complete fix. And it should be exposed

If you want to be ripped off for van insurance, come to Ireland.

It's a scandal here, My premium seems to rise 30 to 40% every year! And I'm 55 without an accident for 23 years (which happened when I was in the UK).

Also, they are wanting vehicles over 10 years old off the road, hence they are hammering owners of vehicles of this age. Some insurance companies are refusing to quote for older vehicles too. Many people (if they are insured at all) will have premiums far outweighing the value of their vehicle.

That's good. More insurance companies now getting in board now with our tanks.

That means more compition for insurance companies.  And puts a stop to over charging us due to lack of opportunities.
