Rain collection tray.
« on: February 12, 2018, 11:48:05 am »
Just had a thought, has anyone considered popping on a rain collection tray on top of their van to fill up tanks on the move?

I don’t think it’ll just collect rain though, it’ll collect bird crap , dust, debris and leaves etc

You could run a filter and pump to seperate the crap.

But why?  People don't normally run out of water for the day. Or at least ones on here haven't said they do.
However rain water harvesting at home makes for a good idea. Add a couple of filters to the down pipe and harvest away.

Fix some gutters to the sides of my van.  ;D
We look at them, they look through them.

I've said it at some point... The next thing for wfp is a return to tank hose for water reclamation (if I've spelt that right)

A number of years ago Ionics had a system like a carpet steam cleaner without the steam. It was supposed to be for internal wfp work. You cleaned the windows as normal but incorporated was a vacuum hose and attachment that stucked the dirty water off the glass.
It was just too heavy and it would also have internal cleaning complications such as electric lights, switches, door mounted electrics and electronics etc.

How would you collect the water?
It's a game of three halves!

Take on a part timer to follow you round with a gutter vac and hoover up any water that drips off the sills  ;D
