To dump or not to dump?
« on: February 06, 2018, 11:06:18 am »
I have a couple of custies that have replied to last two texts that I've sent saying " can you leave it this time please" I don't mind once but two consecutive months is frustrating!

Offer to change the frequency at a higher price.

So perhaps offer a quarterly clean at a 25%  increase.

This is why i do not text customers beforehand. I give the next clean date on thier bill and stick to that.

If you don't want to dump them, turn it to your advantage.  In exchange for them not doing it again, offer them half the frequency for a one-third higher price.  Possibly explain that cancelling with such short notice costs you money (even if it doesn't) because it's too late to arrange a replacement job.  Therefore, it shortens your work day.

I can't be bothered with people like that, I just wouldn't go back
I've had customers continuously being cleaned for nearly 20 years with no cancellations, I stick to these people

You should never make it personal they are just customers who want a different service than the one you want to offer, keep them
until you no longer have room for their custom.

Spot on.

I have a few like that and had quite a few too.

Just use them until you have better work then get rid.

No point dumping them if they provide say 4-6 cleans a year it's better than nowt for now.

I just make a mental note and if I have a good week and pick up a few new custys then I will drop one or two and Keep it moving.

And at least if they reply you know in advance.

Turned away in the day j wouldn't tolerate unless it was a legitimate excuse.

So it was meant to be monthly and has now turned into a quartely on the next visit , so it will probably take twice as long next time , rather than waste 40 minutes on the said next time i would rather not do it and spend 40 minutes knocking a few doors .
They wont change mate , they have already taken your text to be a sure way to get a clean when they want it !

I keep them in the dark as much as poss , i tell them i dont call or text i just turn up every 4/5 weeks and cant pin it down any more than that due to the nature of the weather , if they dont know you are coming they cant cancel can they !
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

It depends what mood i'm in at the time.
In general they get dumped; I can't build a reliable window cleaning business on 'ifs and maybes'.
I don't want customers where I think...'I wonder if they will cancel this time?'
Also when people cancel it ruins my 'Chi' and p155es me off.
I had one last week on a 12 weekly that cancelled because of the weather FFS! Needless to say they are binned and I do the neighbour also 12 weekly. They are binned too, purely by association. In fact no more 12 weekly. I was in a bit of a mood though  ::)roll

Having said all that, I also have to consider my 'Cute Factor' score because this improves my Chi.  ;D
"Thank you for calling: if you have a 1st floor flat, mid terraced house, lots of dogs, no parking, no side access, or no sense of humour, please press hold!
For all other enquiries, please press1"

I had one that originally wanted a monthly clean. Being a stand alone I would text before turning up. It immediately turned into 2 monthly, then although she would ask me to call 'next month', my texts were responded to by 'I don't need them done this time'. This happened 3 consecutive months, so I stopped texting and took her off my list.

Last month I got a text from her:

Former customer:  'Do you still clean windows!'

Me: 'Yes'

FC: 'When are you around next?'

Me: 'In a couple of weeks'

No further response, but I have the feeling she realizes that I am not going to offer to call.

Yeah, this is what I do from the Quote and onwards. I highlight I work all weather.
I do text some customers though, possibly 8 in a month, but they are all solid. Not messers.
