Granville and P@f,,fiat doblo cargo
« on: January 11, 2018, 09:23:13 am »
Hi Granville, p@f and doblo/ fiat owners.

I've noticed a couple if problems on my van that I will get straightened out while under warranty.

Just wanted to check a couple of points with fiat owners on here.

Noticed today on school run, VAN KEY DOESN'T WORK IN PASSENGER DOOR LOCK.
Central locking, only unlocks drivers side? Is that right.

SHOULD THERE BE A RUBBER PEDAL COVER ON CLUTCH PEDAL?
Just bare metal?

Thanks

I would think that there should be a rubber cover on pedal .
As for the locking bit , not sure , my van does both doors off key or button , it could be that the passenger door actuator has gone or it could be a setting on your menu button , should be in the book , if you sit in the van and lock the doors from the drivers door handle does the passenger open and shut then ?
If so then the actuator must be working .

I have a Golf and Touran of the same year , the Touran pops all the doors with one button push , the Golf needs two pushes of the button otherwise only the driver door opens , try that !

it is because you have the basic poverty spec van, there is no central locking, you need to reach over and pull the lever to open the passenger door,

your clutch pedal cover is missing, order a new one from a fiat dealership

Hi P@F.

Pushed locking mechanism down on door rest both move in unison, all good.

Outside door lock passenger side has keyhole but not slot like driver's side?

Looks suspiciously like its been drilled, tampered with.

You have remote central locking P@F that is why your passenger side has blanking cap.

My side cargo door has blanking cap but not passenger door?

Scrimble I do have central locking but not remote central locking.

Not bothered with higher spec, just want what I have to work😁

Did the van ever have a remote ? my dispatch will unlock both doors with the remote but will only unlock the driver door with
the key, as long as they both lock from the drivers door I wouldn't worry about having to reach over to open.

Mine was/is the older shape '56 plate.

Had remote for all doors (had two side doors).

All vans should have pedal rubbers.

It's a game of three halves!

I have the Vauxhall which is the same van.it sounds like  your remote central locking key is missing. Both the Vauxhall and fiat only have one door/key lock which is on drivers side the rest (passenger and back) are opened by the remote

Just tie some string to it like they did in the 60's , my nan and grandad moved to Plymouth from Bedford back then , they jumped in the car to find the wipers not working , they looped string out one window and around the wipers then back in the other window , they drove most of the way in heavy rain taking it in turns pulling their bits of string , pure class  ;D

I’ve got the same van and the locks just started playing up...
Have to unlock the passenger door and reach across to unlock the drivers - what a faff!

Any ideas as to what’s gone wrong?

You haven't really provided enough detail about your issue. If I understand this right, your central locking isn't working on your drivers door and the key isn't working in the driver's door either. Very strange for 2 things to fail at the same time.

The key should unlock the drivers door mechanically even if the central locking isn't working (actuator has failed/connector come off, damaged supply cable).

If it doesn't, then I would start off at the drivers door, carefully remove the panel and plastic membrane and check that the actuator levers are in place from the key to the lock mechanism.

If the key goes into the lock but won't turn when it did before, then it could be rusted up.  You may have to remove the lock from the van and soak it in rust remover or white vinegar over night. On a newish van that doesn't make sense to me unless the lock has broken. (If you have never used the lock, then there could always be the possibility that the lock was changed in a previous life (if you bought it second hand) and you didn't spot the issue when you bought the van. Try the duplicate key you have in the door and see if that works. )

If the central locking is working on all doors except the drivers door, then the first place of focus is the cables to the connector and the connector plug and socket at the door jam. In most vehicles they need to be aligned and then screwed together until the screw clicks locked. But the key in the lock should still unlock the door.

If the central locking isn't working at all then look for a blown fuse.

Baring that, its a visit to Fiat.

Thanks for the input spruce.

The key turns fine both ways it just doesn’t do anything.

The key has always unlocked & locked the central locking, there isn’t a key fob, there never was - my model must be below the poverty spech  ;D

Fortunately the passenger door has a  key operated lock so I can at least get in the blasted van & unlock drivers door from inside.....

2 days ago autoglass replaced the drivers window which had been smashed by some git - maybe the technician unclipped something or dislodged something.....

Sooooo annoying :(

As P&F says, Autoglass would have knocked the lever from the  door key lock to the mechanism. You just might have to scratch around at the bottom of the door to find the retaining clip.
