Daz, following on from my previous post, I think, at the moment, all brushes are designed with cold water in mind.

I think what Alex does, is work out which brushes will 'best suit' hot water and recommend those. And fair play to him.

There are so many hot water users now (I would like to be one of them) that there needs to be a brush that can take hot water but still have a suppleness and flexibility about it, with that gentle 'caress' of the glass; basically the scrubbing power without the harshness. Possibly a very difficult 'nut to crack'.

Over to you Alex; a 'hot water' range of brushes!

The reason for having introduced the Stiff version brushes was for hot water use by clients - many clients like the feel of these on the glass with hot water.

By nature when heated the bristle materials become softer. However hot water users use varying temperature water - so what is supple and flexible for one hot water user at 50°C for another user at 30°C may not feel supple or 'caressing' enough.

To cater for this we would have to introduce a range of varying stiffness brushes - perhaps at 30°C, 40°C and 50°C - so the current Stiff versions could be the 50°C brush and then degrees of stiffness down from that to our current medium-mixed versions.

It would be a challenge to accurately address each of these temperature bands without confusing the brush choice even further 

Alex, what brush would you recommend for hot water use, preferably 14" and not flocked. If not 14" when will it be available You cant be cleaning windows with 12" brushes these days, thats so 1980's.

And I thought that a Squeegee was so 1980s 

14" = 35cm for us Europeans (well we are currently)

In our 35cm range we have the  Ultimate Stiff-Medium which is good for water up to 45°C

We do have coming soon a 35cm Ultimate brush in full Stiff Bristles (see photo of the 26cm version) which will be good for water up to 75°C

I am sure that if there is anyone 'best placed' to address these issues and meet the challenges, then you are, without doubt, 'the man' to do so.

P.S. To save confusion you could call them:
Hot 30 range
Hot 40 range
Hot 50 range

It seems to be the way the industry is going!  SWOT analysis and all that!
You could even sell a device, so window cleaners could accurately tell the temperature of the water at the brush head!
Oh how I love (hate) marketing!

I'm 61 next month
Always kept fit playing footy, running, squash etc.
Knackered joints now so it's swimming, walking etc.
I work about 11 days a month now, I've got hobbies, a wife and two sons/daughter in law and charity work to keep me busy the rest of the time.
My ICI pension will kick in, in 4 years then at 67 state pension.
I'll keep my hand in till 67,  albeit reducing all the time, finances allowing.
I'm selling stuff off that's further from home and getting up later and finishing earlier
Like to keep occupied

I've been going between a 12" sl med mix for the dirtier windows and gfs and an Xtreme™ 35cm Wide Brush - Medium Mixed Bristles which I bought 18 months ago, I'm sure the xtreme 35cm is actually stiff outer bristles and not medium as it states on my order.  I also bought an Xtreme Hybrid Brush - Medium Mixed Bristles which has cleaned about two windows! kept smacking the frames so stopped using it and tried it the other day and soon remembered why I don't use it!
I like the 35cm brush size so ordered the Ultimate 35cm Wide Brush - Stiff-Medium Bristles which should give me more scrubbing power over the xtreme.  (hopefully be here tomorrow now)

Just noticed delivery at the back door so I'll be trying out these new brushes tomorrow. Unlike Daz it's not often I order new brushes so I might even give it a try after my dinner!

using an xtreme brush for f/s/g jobs is waaaayyyy easier mate....try it.....you wont go back to a SL brush!

thundercat......with my bandmates(xmas party)....they were a tad too self indulgent jon!but an experience anyway!we had a great night though and went for a curry  beforehand

i hope im as fit and active as you are mate when im your age(im only 15 years behind you!) i love my weight training and live a clean lifestyle these days so im in with a chance.
