To be honest that's part of the reason I want employees, I like the money working 5 days a week brings but I don't like the pressure of  constantly having to keep the schedule come rain or shine, it can get exhausting and overbearing.
Let's say you have 200 a day to do 5 days a week on a 4 weekly, any slipping and the round gets messed up which means working thru some horrible weather which then you start getting behind, then you are chasing to get back on track and it becomes a constant cycle...it starts to feel like pressure and not the steady paced easy money that it used to be when I was less busy.

I want employees to do the hard graft and then do 2-3 days a week at a reasonable pace for myself.

the trick for me is making sure i only have to work 5 or 6 hours a day to earn my target daily rate(say £200-£250).i can sometimes earn this in 4 hours depending on work.i tend to work 4 or 5 days a week.

we hardly ever get any bad weather that i cant work through so this is a non issue for me.

exhausting and overbearing just doesnt even come into it as im not  working at full throttle any working day of the week.i work briskly and at a steady pace with lunch in between and a hearty breakfast before i leave for work.i also have nearly every weekend off throughout the year as well as at least 5 or 6 weeks off for holidays, xmas etc

this work schedule is most optimal for me.i dont get burned out, stressed out or want to pack it all in! ;D

I can't believe how rigid some of you are! I just work full time, no rigid schedules. The most rigid I get is with some commercial but my domestics are anything between 6 and 12 weeks! I would say my average is 8 to 9 weeks for most.

Exactly. Go to work, do what you want in a monetary sense. Come home.

Everybody needs a break , so why not at crimbo ?
I used to be out every minute I could , those days are gone now , I forgot why I went self employed along the way , if was for an easy life and to work when it suited me , and not to kill myself along the way , which i very nearly did !

This year I stopped on the 22nd and have no intention of touching a window until the 8th , boredom dependant !

I have taken the time out to totally refit the van to a more user friendly layout , not that it wasnt before , but having removed  the 350  and putting a 250 in I have been left with lots of space ,  which in a Fiat Fiorino is rare to find !
And when the L5 and bottle come out it will be a Fiat Tardis  :D
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

So you'll be only working 3 or 4 hours a day then rich?(with a 250L tank)

Sounds like a backward step to me.unless u plan to nip home at lunchtime to fill up which will just be wasting time and be a bit of a ballache if u ask me.

You my son have pretty much hit the nail on the head with that statement  ;D
However , I will not be going home to fill up , when its gone , i'm gone too !

I reckon 250 will last me for 2.5 hours of solid pumping , that will equate to about 3.5 hours of actual cleaning , then i have my relocating and lunch/chat time to add , call it 4 hours all in , then 30 mins of travel to and from area , 4.5 hours total for day .

The thing was , with my 350L I was always getting home with at least 100L left on all but 2 days a month , these would normally leave me 50L left .
My backpack is carried empty and filled as needed as i have no fastfill  which in itself was a waste of waiting time , now it will be kept full along with 2 old Virosol containers of pure , we have all been there when 20L in the backpack just isnt quite enough .

So I will be up to 280L total  , plus have the backpack ready to go with top up water , these will give scope for an extra 30 mins on top of the times quoted for the 250 tank .

Even you said a 350 was pushing it in a Fiorino , a very true statement in itself , I took the time to weigh everything in and on the van including my skinny arse and all told i was leaving home 2kg over every day .

I prefer rigid schedules with the only slack being when I'm having a break/holiday.i don't see the point in slacking off any other time as I lose money and my schedule goes pear shaped.

Why would you slack off when it's your own business? I don't understand some of you guys.im in it to make money in an efficient manner and that means keeping to work schedules.

Who's slacking? I couldn't possibly get round my work in just 4 weeks! I have refined, refined and then refined and it still takes up to 12 weeks to get round it all!! That's without any time off! My point is, that's how I like it, it gives me flexibility without being "late or behind" because I don't work to a rigid schedule. As Slacky says- this also allows you to maximise days better.

As much as i like being up to date , i dont think you can beat a bit of backlog , this i find gives you a choice of what to do each day , it also has the added bonus of highlighting the stuff you dont like or the messers , as the same jobs for some strange reason are on my backlog every time i get one  ;D

I tried going back for three days in between but it didn't work, the wheels fell off.

I'll be back Tuesday, Im about 6 weeks behind at the moment. Not good, if you look at my schedule on Aworka it looks like a lorry has driven through it, stopped and detonated a bomb.

if you keep up to date with your work theres less dirt to clean off too so you get round quicker/more efficiently.also customers dont ask where you ve been all the time and stops the "he only cleans mine when he feels like it" quip.

ive moved all my work forward a week so every job will be a week later than usual(5 weeks instead of 4,9 instead of 8,7 instead of 6)although sometimes i chop and change a few of these to fit in on their regular schedule if i can squeeze them in.
