Sod working between, I'm off until the 8th,been run ragged these last few weeks. Never work between Xmas and New Year, all I want to do is lie around, watch telly, eat and drink.

What about working out at the gym?i personally can't lie around for more than 2 days on the trot doing nothing and just stuffing my face.  I get bored and feel like crap if I don't get out and about. Weight training and walking the dogs etc.
Dont have dogs, and don't work out. Work keeps me in trim, and what the above poster said, r and r. Charge the batteries, time with the family.
Cheers Rich

Just lost nearly a fortnight due to flu, schedule gone to pot. Working 28th & 29th then January 2nd. Got an early morning contract in the middle of a shopping precinct, best time to catch it when the place is dead. Wish me well. 🤧

I need at least 3 days recovery from new year festivities so ease myself back on the 5th with commercial only. I may take even longer off. I find January the grimmest and longest month for working. I hate it. If it wasn't for the fact my gf is salaried with only 4 weeks annual leave I'd probably spend it on a third world beach  each year.

I think thats the only good thing about jan, its almost 5 weeks so get an extra weeks money in for the bills, will need it after losing a week at crimbo.

I really don't get this calendar month working

I'm looking forward to valeting the van, ripping everything out and re-doing it all. I have bought 2 x 12v motors and going lecy reels next year.

Going through all my work and sorting it into a streamline as possible, creating some new rules to work by. Like no more working on Fridays or Sundays, no less than £x per hour,. making a hot list of the worst jobs and a plan of action on them.

2017 was awesome, cant wait to see what 2018 brings!

its a great time to make a few changes here and there to your van once the festivities have passed for a fresh start in the new year.

ive got my van exactly how i want it.its truly awesome for my work now.only thing im gonna do is make up a short piece of microbore hose to attach to my reel for filling up my bucket up with hot water. :) and a general clean and tidy up.

I'll bet you have Daz
It's cost you a fortune though

Who works calendar monthly?

I work 4 weekly. Jan is a longer month so more money coming in that month than Feb.

Me , once a month service, I don’t clean on the 1st of jan and then on the 29th of jan, it’d be the 1st Feb when I next go round.
12 cleans a year  :)

I've bought and sold quite a few rounds over the years
Selling at 5 times or whatever, you get more ££££'s per round (4 weekly work)

If you work calendar monthly you will have the same amount due each month, let's say that's £3k for arguments sake.

So in a longer month you would end up having days off? And do 12 cleans a year but if you take holidays you might only do 11 cleans a year?

I work 4 weekly, which means 12 cleans a year and 4 weeks hols.

I count my 4 weekly cycle as my monthly earnings, so say I earn 750 a week I tell myself that's 3k a month as my bills come out every month, which means I get 4 weeks paid holiday a year  ;)

But in actual fact I work daily, I don't worry about days of the week etc.

For example if I have finished one weeks work in Thurs and none due till Monday I could have Friday off but sometimes I pull Mondays forward. And then if any rain delays or hols etc it might slip a week behind, but now I just have a daily target that I go out and do everyday as a minimum, so don't worry if my round is a bit behind or even pulled forward a couple of days.

Having said that I'm looking to get more structure next year as I've been I've been guilty of slacking off and coming home early last few months, I probably average 20 - 25 hours a week on the glass when I want to be doing 30

To be honest Marc it’s not really relevant or in anyone’s interest to know what my business’ are. Iv just always had my fingers in different pies, I suppose I find more security in knowing that I don’t have to rely on one thing to feed my family.
Also , I find if I do too much of one thing - I get bored!

I can't believe how rigid some of you are! I just work full time, no rigid schedules. The most rigid I get is with some commercial but my domestics are anything between 6 and 12 weeks! I would say my average is 8 to 9 weeks for most.

I prefer rigid schedules with the only slack being when I'm having a break/holiday.i don't see the point in slacking off any other time as I lose money and my schedule goes pear shaped.

Why would you slack off when it's your own business? I don't understand some of you guys.im in it to make money in an efficient manner and that means keeping to work schedules.
