I need at least 3 days recovery from new year festivities so ease myself back on the 5th with commercial only. I may take even longer off. I find January the grimmest and longest month for working. I hate it. If it wasn't for the fact my gf is salaried with only 4 weeks annual leave I'd probably spend it on a third world beach  each year.

I think thats the only good thing about jan, its almost 5 weeks so get an extra weeks money in for the bills, will need it after losing a week at crimbo.

I'm working tomorrow and then back next week, probably Thursday and Friday; the missus is also working, otherwise i'd be at home. I don't mind though, because I have 2 weeks off in January, so I'll probably spend it in the Canary Islands. See what holiday deals are going on.

No way would I be working in between Christmas and new year.

Everyone is home and In holiday mode, family are round etc. Last person they want to see (usually) is the window cleaner.

Whats this holiday mode you lot are talking about?
As soon as boxing day is here, everybody's out hitting the shops n sales etc.  Not many are in and if they are, great they can pay you as well.

First of all anyone working between crimbo and new year just because they are behind a day or two this week must be nuts. Give yourself a break man. You can only do so much. If unforseen circumstances have meant you can't get round em all it's tough they won't die because there windows are a bit dirty at crimbo.

Also anyone working on residential between crimbo and new year are nuts anyway. Every one will be at home, including kids the lot, last thing they will want is you coming round disturbing there holiday. And I don't want a house  full of people getting in my way and gorping at me when  I'm trying to  work...Give it a rest ;D

For me I'm finishing today (unless I have a change of heart in tomorrow morning) and back on the 2nd. I've had 12 days off this year holidays so I want a break.

And yes guys I'm actually 3 days behind my 4 weekly schedule and no it's not going to all get done but I'm having a break. I suppose the fact I'm not regular as clock work and quite often am a few days or a week behind  plays to my advantage here.

Anyway that's my sarnies eaten, few more houses to do and should be all done by 3pm whooooo
A wee bit hypocritical there, some may think that you're nuts starting back on the 2nd......and don't you think  everyone will be at home on the 2nd still enjoying their holiday???

Not really, some might think that but they would be wrong as that's when the majority of people will be back at work.

Yes some might still be on holiday but they will realise that others are back at work so won't have any I'll feeling towards me.

I've thought it through.

I am working up to and including Sunday, then have a few jobs booked the following week on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as my weekly shops on Friday, then off until 2nd.

In between the van needs a good clean and my schedule re-organizing.

Apart from that, I'll be chilling.

Christmas Day and Boxing Day off, that’s my lot. Got a two week holiday booked for the end of January, seems stupid taking two weeks off now and then, so counting down!

Working New Year’s Day?  :o

Finishing today. One van doing a massive house and stud farm and I’m doing the son’s house along with a few others. We shift our work for this one. The big house is 3 cleans a year. One clean before Cheltenham festival, one in the summer and the last day before Christmas. Be finished by 2pm for £600.  ;D

Back on 2nd. New guy starts on 15th, so two more weeks of hard work then back to the third and still building round, so currently 2/3 hour days.

I'm looking forward to valeting the van, ripping everything out and re-doing it all. I have bought 2 x 12v motors and going lecy reels next year.

Going through all my work and sorting it into a streamline as possible, creating some new rules to work by. Like no more working on Fridays or Sundays, no less than £x per hour,. making a hot list of the worst jobs and a plan of action on them.

2017 was awesome, cant wait to see what 2018 brings!

its a great time to make a few changes here and there to your van once the festivities have passed for a fresh start in the new year.

ive got my van exactly how i want it.its truly awesome for my work now.only thing im gonna do is make up a short piece of microbore hose to attach to my reel for filling up my bucket up with hot water. :) and a general clean and tidy up.

Not window cleaning Daz. I help my wife's aunt on some premises that she looks after for a letting agent. It doesn't involve or affect anyone who is sleeping off their crimbo excesses. I may even leave them until Wednesday as it's not essential to do them Tuesday.

Even I'm not nutty enough to be out window cleaning on boxing day. Today until 4:45 yes, boxing day, nah! 😂

I think sometimes about letting employees work between. In many ways I’d prefer that as it keeps cash flowing rather than a drying up for a week. The problem is that there’s a good chance I’d get phone calls from them or “issues” that need sorting.

I’ve been looking forward to this break though. I have never worked so hard as I have over the last 8 weeks or so covering an extra round.

I’m sure your employees appreciate the break too , Iv spoke to many customers who are back on Wednesday and they aren’t happy about it

What about working out at the gym?i personally can't lie around for more than 2 days on the trot doing nothing and just stuffing my face.  I get bored and feel like crap if I don't get out and about. Weight training and walking the dogs etc.

It's called being able to and being capable of relaxing. What ever floats your boat but some like to do very little when that time allows- usually to make up for the times when they can't.👍
