lovely old couple??
« on: December 20, 2017, 08:44:09 pm »
Go the big heave ho today from what I have always considered to be a lovely couple.

After cleaning the house the nice old chap came out and pay'd us, before turning to the garage and remarking that we had not cleaned the garage window. To which I replied" we never have" the window was filthy and obvious I was telling the truth.

He walked off in grumbling "you normally do" as we had put the poles away by this time I walked over and cloth cleaned the window for him with it being xmas and all (no tip from him btw).

Two houses later and gets a txt"my husband requested you clean the window and it appears you did not" I rang up and explained I cloth cleaned it, and that the garage window was never included in the price and also that extra work requires extra money and it will cost £1 more next time.

The reply was don't come back here again!

Lovely that, called a liar, demanded extra work for free and when refused dumped! How about that for a tip?

Never turn your back on them golden oldies, cut throats.

Not quite the same but,
Cleaned windows today for a customer who Ive known for over 15yrs. 13years as a customer when it was my mate who owned the round and last 2 whilst the round is mine. But several months ago I hiked the price by £5 from a tenner to fifteen quid, a long overdue price increase and shes never been happy with that.  Every year shes always tipped.
Well today I cleaned the neighbour's window and noticed that this customer has a skyline window on her extension roof that has never been cleaned as we never knew about it and the house used to be trad cleaned to begin with. (its on a hill and some bushes had been cut down and thats why I noticed it).  The glass was covered in green deposits etc as you could imagine. So I thought whilst im here I can reach that with pole and clean it up nice, esp with hot water.
Then i went and cleaned the windows as normal and knocked on door for payment. Also they happen to owe from last month as well. I kinda asked if i made them jump if they saw the brush n water on skyline window as I cleaned it whilst at  neighbours house, just to hint at my kind dead!   She said she knew it would be me and just paid me what she owed and shut the door!   I LAUGHED..... she really is not happy with the price increase and couldn't be fussed to say thank you even!

That's true. Could have said sorry sir I thought you were aware we never cleaned window. Sorry for the confusion I'll clean it for you now no problem then I'll make sure I remember in future. Have a good Christmas. If it's only a small 30 sec window it's not going to kill to do it for no extra and keep a customer rather than lose a custy over 30 secs work.

BUT that's all easy to say in hindsight, I could have handled loads of situations differently when you really think k them through but that's not how if work. At the time you think cheeky old git shove your windows, it's not easy to see someone else's perspective.

I thought that myself mate, when I sat and contemplated afterwards I thought I should of just put the window in for free.

On reflection it was a good job, they go away often but always have them done and pay when I see them.

It was the way he kind of demanded the window to be cleaned that ignited my ego, never mind. It was a £15 job and I picked up a £25 job and been asked for a quote on a bungalow with a" very large" conny yesterday in the same area.

You probably aren't sure who the old foggies are because of the mist.  :D

The old fogies on the other hand are readily discernable.
It's a game of three halves!
