I think most are not realising that with a large window cleaning round how much it would be to sell it all, most ask 10x per month for it, IMO Lee Pryor is a millionaire in assets with his large window cleaning business  if he was to walk away and sell it all tomorrow.

Well I wouldn't agree he's a millionaire in assets.
A millionaire "on paper" maybe?
And in my opinion a window cleaning business that large would not be an easy sell and would take a long time to find a serious buyer.
But I wouldn't imagine Lee is looking to sell his business in the near future anyway.

you dont need to make much net profit when your growing, the profit to be made is when the expansion stops and just enough leaflets go out to replace the cancellations, with 10x vans and 60K+ per month the figures are much more than any window cleaner sole trader will make,

As a business it would be worth far less than you think- particularly at such a early stage in it's operation. It is currently untested in it's stabilty and longevity- the web is also full of very poor reviews. I don't  think anyone has an issue with his business, good luck to the guy- he's got balls and determination for sure. However, this does all appear to have gone to his head and that is what is dissapointing- NOT his business.

Vans don't make you money employees do, even if they're each doing £40k a year that's still only £400k before everything comes out, therefore I suspect he's talking about two men per van, 20 guys on the tools plus a manager and other staff plus expenses all for £60k a month.
Sounds good to us plebs on the tools but you certainly wouldn't get a dragon saying I'm in.

Hi Everyone.

I haven't looked on here for some time, but feel I missed out when I read Lee Pryor's thread.  Seems he got some flack for talking a bit about his figures and helping other people.  What a ratbag eh?

But why not tell others how you're doing?  I personally wouldn't do it, but I know others have in the past.

Lee, you and I have spoken business (not window cleaning necessarily, but business) on here before and I think there is mutual respect between us, so I think I might be able to ask a few questions:

1.  Your figures look impressive and lots was said about your turnover, but no one questioned you on your bottom line.  Net profit is king.  With your turnover going through the roof, what's your monthly net profit?
2.  You have set figures of £800k for next year.  I think you are underselling yourself, genuinely.  I think next year you should set sights on the big £1m.  You can do it.
3.  However, that would not be my tack.  Why not try to keep your turnover the same, or let it grow organically without any effort from you and look to increase your net profit by 5%?  That will give you a healthier business than increasing turnover.
4.  Market yourself as a 'window cleaning mentor', which is what it sounds like you are.  That's still a valuable title.  If it's not 'training', it's more mentoring.  I have been contacted by a 16 year old recently in order to become their mentor.  I don't have time to do it, but it has opened my mind to other revenue streams.....   ;)
5.  Do you have a 5 year business plan?
6.  Do you have an 'out'?  What's your plan?

If anyone else wants to pick a question to answer for themselves, that would be interesting too.   :)

I have my popcorn and 3D specs ready.   8)

I'll have a go, Steve ...

1. "Net profit is king."  This.  Agree wholeheartedly.  In a previous life (1990's) I used to discuss this with two fellow shareholders and say I'd rather someone would put 20K  in our hands every month to run the business than we have to sift for the profit from 50K turnover. (Simplistic I know - but that was the principle)

2. and 3. You contradict yourself really. I tend towards the latter like you seem to.

4. Shame you can't make time ... think of the difference you could make for them and how  it would make you feel about yourself. If it really worked you could draw them into the business and have a loyal assistant. I wish I had the gifts/skills that a teenager could usefully use. I haven't.

5.  Mine is a bit hazy. I should be more focussed. This is a very good point you make.

6.  Other than death? Ill health?  ;D Well yes. Wind down and go part time, maybe employ one other to assist me. Transfer more assets to property. Use modest private pension and state pension.
It's a game of three halves!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

It would appear that Moderators have decided to allow personal insults to be the order of the day, such a shame.

LOL.

Perhaps you'd like to report a specific? That way the mods don't have to trawl their way through looking.

Thanks.
