Ive not tried it myself,  but one dayi will.
A friend i know,  when trad working  as well would buy a bottle of wine and a wine box carrier for it. One if those carriers where you can put more bottles in and pretend or let others think that a customer gave it to him.   Clever, really because it worked amazingly well for him

Where would he put the crate and bottle so that the customers could see it?

I'm off the mark. £7 tip this morning!

Dumped 2 custys so I'm down overall but nevermind.

I am interested to know the reason for dumping the 2 customers?

It's always nice to receive a tip at the door.

I'm always surprised  by the on line tip, I wonder if they must think "Will he notice the extra amount"

I take a shopping trolley, not the deep one, the one you use when you need a few bits. I tell them I'm collecting food and booze for the homeless. Works well.

What does work is having a pocket of bronze and small silver change. Then when they pull a 20 for a 10 pound job, i pull out a handfull of change

I was cleaning an average house this afternoon and it snowed here in Poole, for about 20 mins. When I finished she came out and gave me 7 quid tip and thanked me for cleaning them in the snow.  :o

For all other enquiries, please press1"

Ok.

I shall expand for you sir.

First one no answer to open up round back even though she knew I was coming. No answer last time either so was skipped. After I had got gear out rung bell and knocked a few times, waited 5 mins and put all my gear back in van she came dashing out with a bin bag straight past me to bin lorry. Straight back past me into the house and door closed. Time waster so dumped.

Second on was a first clean that I had quoted online, got there and no where to park as it was a terraced house down an awkward street, back access was through a neighbour's garden which was full of dog poop. So that never happened as too awkward for me.

Thanks Adam, always interesting to hear.

The first one sounds like an ignorant so and so, no choice but to dump really if she wont communicate with you.

I have gained quite a lot of customers via facebook, and most of them are fine.

That said, I would have dropped the 2 that Adam Thompson described like a stone.

John.
Being diplomatic is being able to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

First  one was a canvassed customer. Second a FB, but wasn't really her fault 2nd one was mine for not checking.

Messer's come from all over. I have far more issues with canvassed work that I do FB or leaflets.

£53 of those tips came in the last two days.
