Immersion heater fitted
« on: December 06, 2017, 01:06:59 pm »
Just fitted my 3kw immersion heater it took 20 minutes and cost £30 with all the accessories well worth it, not expecting to use it for constant hot water but just to use in really cold weather to stop it freezing

Looks good ;D where did you get it? I've been filling with hot from the tap but it's a bit of a pain so I'm getting an electrician to fit sockets on outside wall so I can just plug in.

Toolstation, I tested it yesterday for about 40 mins and the water was 9 c and in the short space of time it got up to 28 so very impressed it has a thermostat built in with 4 different settings but I will probably leave it on 30c

Thinking about doing this, but a bit concerned that the tank walls aren't thick enough.

I have one of the new Ionics tanks that are a lot thinner than Wydale.

Just wondering... Do you anticipate any issues with the mechanical flange when used for a thinner tank than a Wydale?

My tank is a 350 and the thickness of my tank was surprisingly thick to be honest I only just about got the flange in and then tightened up so maybe the thinner tank would be better

What did you use to seal the flange?

I just used the washer I got with the immersion heater and some good sealant it was such a tight fit I didn’t need much to prevent a leak
