I can recommend Sumup as another way to take payment using a mobile card reader. It makes you look more professional taking electronic payments rather than cash or cheques. It's a great bit of kit and easy.

It's a good idea to let customers decide which payment method they prefer.

I use the Sum Up card reader to take payments by card on the road.  Really low rates less than 1.69% with no fixed fee or monthly fee.  Much better and cheaper than paypal. You can also take payments over the phone too.

The card reader can be purchase for £29 reduced from £59 using this link.  You can get a discount of £30 halving the price with this link ( also helps me with referral reward   )

http://fbuy.me/f7Ve3

You can swipe cards or use chip and pin option or contactless payments. It's fab.

Once you take payment you then can put the customers email or phone number in the app and it will either text or email the receipt straight away for them. Works a treat.

Just use your own card to test it out when you get it first to see how it works. Just take £1 on your own card

It's called convenience Daz.  Same as offering Go Cardless as an option.  I use all your said method too but some customer like the idea of paying by card.  It beats the long wait and reminders to get a BACS payment sometimes.

Even if you only use it a couple of times a month it's worth it.  Plus it's a good usp.  I have already picked a couple of customers up from my website telling me they like this method.

Anyway - why pay for cleaner planner when you get George for free  ;D ;D

Only kidding mate  ;D

Because i use this and go cardless as my choice of collecting I take it on the chin. But any new work I stick a quid on top of the price I have in mind. Which collectively covers them and subsidises others  ;D

Is moving money to your bank account classed as a transaction and so results in a fee, or is it only when you accept the card payment that a fee is charged?

Hi Lal

For over the phone.......

Just log into your Sum up account on your laptop.  There is then an option to take a payment over phone.

Fill in the boxes they requested including card number, exp date, name, and 3 digit security code.

You don't have to move anything to your bank account.  When you take a payment it  is then sent direct to your bank account about 3 days later minus the 1.69% fee.

Your online account with sumup is there just so you can see and track all your transactions.  This can also be done via the app.

They also email you an accounts statement every month so you can easily record your expenses.

So it's really simple and easy bud

Does the card reader have its own sim or do you connect it to your phone some how?

Hi Caleb

You use it together with your mobile phone.  It connects to the reader via Bluetooth and requires a small amount of data to connect with the merchant to authorise transaction.

You also use your mobile to enter the amount to be charged and send receipts via text or email to the customer.
