Is anyone using the pure freedom reel master yet?
« on: November 18, 2017, 11:12:31 am »
Wondered how good it is and whether the snag protection is annoying, I.e cutting in when the hose is being pulled round corners etc?

Hi, got two fitted three weeks ago.
The engineering is second to none, enclosed chain so no shredding of fingers or hose! the snag protection is great so no pulling kids down the street if it gets around their feet and it pulls 100mt of 8mm in a controllable 45seconds and you can speed it up or slow it down. I save time, maybe twenty minutes a day so an extra job so the reels will pay for themselves in 3 months and just a point my arm and shoulder no longer fall off at the end of the day.
A happy Mart.

Looks a nice setup but I was looking at that and all I could think about was battery draw in a big way,I bet the old crocodile clips are coming out for charging every other night at least 😂

So will it pull in even round corners?

My concern is it cutting out all the time whenever it detects a bit of a snag, like round corners and gates etc etc...

Yes but you want them to do that else you will burn the motor out if you're still trying to pull in the  hose , and if it's snagged then its not moving anyway.

What happens if they break down. Can you still wind them in manually?

Dazmond , this vehicle has been on the road for two weeks now and no need for a charge from the mains supply . The Sterling power unit is fantastic , however we don't run the heaters on maintenance cleans
Robbo , I won't come to you for sign writing  ;D
Zesty , we work in pairs so one of the lads lays the hose behind the van ,  before reeling in . The anti snag device also protects the motor
Marc , yes you can manually reel in if you need to . Just connect the handles

cheers Ed.

i dont see the point in forking out all that money for a diesel heater if your not gonna use hot water all the time.each to their own though.ill be using mine all day every day.im hoping ill only have to bench charge  my batteries every 2 or 3 days.we ll see.im getting the grippa battery to battery smart charger fitted when they fit my system.

Running the reels and the pumps will not cause you any problems they’ll go on forever without charging, turn the heater on all day and then see who the battery’s cope they won’t last long at all you need some sort of charging facility where it’s easy to just plug in at night I’m in the middle of sorting this with mine. The main trouble with diesel heaters is mega battery drain before you know it they are reading 11-9volts,someone wants to invent a decent charging unit for em.

apparently grippa tank have.the smart charger im having fitted doesnt just trickle charge the batteries when driving about but charges the leisure batteries at a higher charge rate when needed so they charge up faster than standard split charge relays.

That’s pretty much what the Sterling charger does that the OP has mentioned.

The sterling unit (just like Grippa’s) is a battery to battery charging unit, rather than the normal ‘split charger’.
It regulates the charge voltage and lowers/raises it, dependant on what the aux battery needs. (Due to the new smart alternators)

There’s always the element of Ohm’s law though, and how long your van is switched on for in a day...
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?
