Bed ridden with flu, no change in business
« on: November 07, 2017, 07:07:25 pm »
I cant remember the last time I was this ill! Had to sleep on towels last night as I was soaked in sweat all night. Poor me! haha

Ive had a lot of negative stick for wanting to grow my business ect.  My goals are not all about more money, cars, houses, holidays and this week is a perfect example of that. I have been in bed for 3 days and yet, all the work at the office is done and exactly the normal amount of money has been turned over. 10min telephone chat with my office manager today to update me and thats it. I love the fact that I am completely removed from the day to day admin and generating of the money. I can see everything thats going on from home, cleaner planner, the van trackers, the emails ect.

I have said many times that dont think any less of someone for staying a one man band, I was one myself after all. But what would happen if a one man band had a sudden health problem, not just a few days off with a cold or flu. What about a broken arm or leg, back problem, cancer ect.......

What do others have in mind for such times? Does anyone even think about it?

I think about it all the time, breaking a leg, I might go bankrupt as a result, wife will leave me and I’ll end up as a poor rent boy in Thailand hoping the a 70year old man will buy me out of my ‘special’ relationship with my pimp and have me as his toy boy, chaining me to his bedroom wall, gimp mask in tow...

Then I realise that wishful thinkimg will get me nowhere and I need to work hard to acheive what I want!
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

No you havn't. Lets just recap.... you stuck your neck out with a big gamble your plan would work, infact you asked the question...."am i brave, or mad" or some such. When people said you where mad  (at your invitation) then you percieve this as negative stick.
You've got the flu, tough!!! It'll be the same Flu i get, only the towels i have to sleep on might not be as nice as yours !!  ;D
Yeah, and my employment will stop  ;D I'll be laid in bed exactly the same as you, only i won't be in me mums  ;D

Health insurance that will kick in after 3 months of sickness, and 3 months of living costs saved up.

But your dead right, I was swaying to an fro about employing but after a conversation with another local cleaner who has a back problem I'm going to advertise asap.

At least if for no other reason than to keep things going when I'm not.

I have a goal of 10 employees in 5 vans doing 50k per month within the next 5 years putting me in the position to semi retire aged 45, I know people will begrudge  me for saying that!

How hard do you think that'll be lee?

I think if you want something enough and your willing to persevere then you absolutely can do it!

Get well soon Lee.

I guess the same applies to anyone employed unless they have a kind hearted boss.

As Dazmond has often said, keep some money in reserve for such an occasion, most things only last a short time and clients are generally happy to wait.

Who pulled your chain?

For the record I only spent a short time at my parents house and have had my own house for some time now. I simply didn't mention it on here. By moving in there I was able to sell my house faster.

Your post is exactly the sort of negative low brow sh t I'm talking about. Doesn't contribute to the topic at all.

Instead of ending your post saying when your laid up you won't be at your mums, you should have said you won't be earning any money and you will be wondering how long it will last. That would be more accurate wouldn't it.

Used to be the General Manager of a Fresh n Frozen Food delivery firm. Couple of office staff, 2 butchers, 2 sales people, 8 van drivers plus freezer and chiller staff. Oh! And not to forget the numpty that owned the place.

After 13 years of continuous stress I resigned, just walked away, tried a few more jobs then found window cleaning - best decision I've made in the the last two decades.

Now I'm 'just' a window cleaner  in most peoples eyes.

Lee I hail you for your vision and 'get up n go' and hope you have less staff hassle than I got but my answer to your Q "What about a broken arm or leg, back problem, cancer ect......." My customers will have slightly dirtier windows on my return"

Regards
Glenn

How hard is very hard. If it were easy everyone would have that. I think it's very doable. Lots of planning, lots of money invested ect. I think you should adjust that goal to 60k per month and have 1 per van in 10 vans. Rather than the 2 per van model. There are lots of reasons that works better and makes more money

Rub you up the wrong way did it ? I've never said anything derogatory to you or about you BTW.  You are your own negative low brow poop. Get over your Flu you big woos. I'm just pointing out your factual inaccuracies over who has a pop at you, its in your own head.
And BTW Einstein, just to stay on topic and contribute positivley to the thread..that how it works when you employ people to work for you. You don't have too. Its a revelation to you though eh ? Kind of you to point it out to anyone who might of thought you could drive 10 vans in a day and clean a thousand windows in a day, you've got someone else to do it and they do it when your in bed.... pure genious. You're gonna win an innovation award soon i can tell...........

I dont want you to say anything and it's not about me being clever. The possibility of someone not being able to work through poor health is a very real one. I think it's something people should be concerned about and plan for. Just wondering what plan people have if any but as usual it's like talking to children on here.
