Backpack wiring question
« on: November 06, 2017, 04:59:05 pm »
Ok so I have used the battery from an old backpack to power my sub pump in the back of the van. Works great.
I have mounted the charger socket from the old backpack in the new battery box.
Connected live on socket to red on battery and neg on socket to blue on battery.
Had the charger connected for a good few hours but the red light on charger never went out.
Just wondering if my connections are ok?
It worked fine today showing 12volts.
Thanks guys.

Can you put a multimeter across the battery terminals when your charger is on. It should read over 12v.

If you put your multimeter across the terminals before you put the charger on then you will see the current battery voltage. Then switch your charger on and you should see higher voltage readings on the multimeter indicating that the battery is receiving a charge.
