Xline or gardiners?
« on: November 05, 2017, 09:52:00 am »
Hi all,
I’ve not been on here for years, I gave up window cleaning and went back to my old job in construction. Anyway, I’ve now bought my old round back and  am in the process of building it back up so will be doing quite a few first cleans. I did on yesterday and also cleaned the insides and was massively disappointed with the results, I cleaned all the frames very well before going back and doing the glass, but there were lots of stubborn marks on the glass that hadn’t been removed. I need more scrubbing power, I think it a gardiners mono type brush on the pole, but I have no idea which one. Anyway, after looking at old post it looks like a choice between xline and gardiners, I have no idea which variant of either to go for!

Personally I think flocked bristles scrub better in comparison to mono filament but they trap the dirt  very quickly. Single trim brushes sit flush against the glass and dual trim splay flat to both the frames and glass when a little pressure is exerted on the brush.  Good luck finding the right brush, so many choices, personal preference.  I have gone back to flocked with home made bissell hoover bars attached to the top of the brushes to optimize cleaning with overhead rinsing to reduce fatigue and speed up cleaning

Personally I'd have used a chemical too like virosol. Sprayed the windows and frames before wfpoling.

I do this on dirty first cleans. Much better clean. I use  a 5l pressure sprayer.

Brushes? Any will do although flocked/natural bristle brushes scrub better.

Nice to see u back chopsie(I remember u from years ago)
price higher/work harder!

Thanks dazmond and WW, yes I remember you Dazmond. I will have to look into virosol, I appreciate that brush choice can be personal preference, but as you can understand, when starting out again money is extremely tight so I don’t want to blow what but I have on a useless brush. The brush seemed to really struggle to get into the top corners properly where all the spider keep their catch in those balls of web. I can’t remember my old brush having so much trouble lol. Perhaps I am looking back with rose tinted glasses. 😂

Also, is Matt the DIY guy still about? He used to have a camper van I think and went to centre parks all the time. He helped me out no end when I started up, all the DIY system he advised on is still going strong today 7 years later.
