Horrible Resin
« on: October 25, 2017, 10:34:49 pm »
I ordered a 5 litre tub of resin (it's got  "Tulsion" written on the lid)
When I opened it, to my surprise it's full of black stuff, with a bit of gold colour resin mixed in. This black stuff seems largely to be small and powdery. Has anyone else used it, I'm a bit reluctant in case it contaminates my tank...

Doesn't sound right to me. Where did you purchase it from?

I've always bought my Tulsion resin from Gardiner's or Pure Freedom & it's the usual gold colour.

I got the same stuff recently as gardeners were out of stock of the usual Tulsion.

It’s been pretty crap really, only marginally more crap than the Tulsion has become recently.

I’m guessing here as I’ve not counted the fills but I’d say it’s 70% as good as the normal Tulsion.

Last 2 bags of resin , one from purefreedom, the other from soap national, have both been absolutely crap. Is there a nationwide problem with it at the mo or is anyone still getting decent resin from somewhere?

We have noticed the quality of resin has gone downhill over the two years. We have tried very resin we can get our hands on, rohm and haas, dowex, tulsion, indion, unger etc etc and the only one doing the business is Purolite.
I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!

Anyone tried MB1060?
http://www.resin-products.com/product/mb-1060-p/
I bought their own RP60 resin and had no issues with it but I see it's not on the site now.

Is there any supplier that have got Tulsion in stock right now?

WCW say they have but try to upsell the more expensive stuff once you have placed your order.

I've got a bag that's half black, I've heard that it's regenerated stuff.

To be fair though I use a litre a week usually and haven't noticed much difference with it.

has anyone else had the stuff with the fine black powdery particles in it? did it get carried through to the tank?

I’ve used it yes, it didn’t get through to the tank no, but it’s not very good though.

Looking on the bright side, if there was a bad shipment from Turkey or wherever then there could be 40 bags on a pallet and 20 pallets in a container so that's only 800 bags of resin which will be sold fairly quickly and then the next batch gets shipped.
