Does anyone know the best way to put a new outlet in the tank . I've swapped it over in to a new van but to give me the most room in the back I've put it in the other way round . Only problem the outlet is at back . Now the way we work I need it at the front , so is it easy to put a new one in . Cheers

Steve its begining to sound like a lot of faff. So you need to seal the lid and put a new inlet in as discussed on your other thread. But also a new outlet in it as well? Why cant you run a hose from the outlet to the front and join a new stop valve to it and work from the front like that?

Best thing i can think of is a brass tank joiner , wickes or plumbers merchant will have them , just make sure they have a good size flange on them .

This is the type of thing , you dont have to use it as compression , you should be able to get a tap fitting right on it , they do a few sizes , and some others in plastic , depends what you want really

Thanks for going to the trouble of replying. No I'm not sealing the lid or flipping the tank now . Silly idea . Ha ha , I hate drilling anything filling holes as well . Just need to get a new outlet at the front .

I would assume that people read before they reply, some comments are totally patronizing. He's asked about sealing the lid  fitting a new oulet and not told how hes going to fill the tank nor about air holes etc.  I thought people might conclude that he has that covered.

That's what i have a 650 flat . Was thinking of flipping it on its end . But that's not happening . So I've spun it round so it goes length ways across the van. But the outlet is now near the back instead of the front . Now it's all plumbed in and working but I want the outlet at the front .

Not to be patronising but why cant you turn the tank around..?

If its a 650layflat them surely its rectangular shaped? It’ll still be the same length and width if its turned so the outlet faces the rear doors rather than the bulkhead surely..? Only difference is the tank lid will be at the opposite end which I’m assiming you’re trying to avoid, I have a 650 layflat and it isn’t that big of a deal...

Ideally I could have turned it the other way still leaving the outlet in the opposite bottom corner . But it was hitting the wheel arch . So come on someone must have fitted an outlet .

You will need a decent hole saw to drill the hole.  We will have to measure the outside diamt of the connector and choice the right size.

You will also have to find a way to blank off the original outlet. Probably a 3/4" or 1" bsp brass flanged blanking plug with washer/gasket or silicone sealer will work depending on the outlet size of your tank.

I fitted an brass elbow equivalent of this fitting to my 650 liter tank, but I can't remember where I got it from. There are female to male brass elbows available if you chose the brass staright tank connector. There is an elbow connector available in 'plastic'.

Yeh I know gunna get that from wickes . I'm not gunna blank off the original hole . I will just leave it connected . But turn the tap off connecting it . Will I need to get my arm inside the tank to tighten it up . Or can it all be done from the outside .

In an ideal world you want to be able to get your hand or a stick to the inside where the hole is going , you need to be able to do it up dont you , and dont forget a rubber seal of the right size too !

Also , before you drill any hole make sure you allow for the width of the internal flange , if you just drill too close to the corner of the tank you wont get the backnut on

Thanks for the in depth reply . Really helpful . I may have been panicking for noneason . I've used my new set up for 3 days now and works perfect . The outlet works fine . Also no transfer pump required as Gravity regardless of where I park still fills the trolley . Cheers anyway .
