I am looking to try and get all customers to pay by card, my wife can call all clients up 3 days after the clean, just wondering if any of you guys collect this way, would save time and effort.

Why not just state in your payment terms that your invoices are settled  by bank transfer within x amount of days/weeks from invoice date.

I use it as another option for customers and so much more cheaper than paypal readers usage costs.  Only takes about 3 days to come through so much quicker than go Cardless.

Does the card reader only take contactless or chip and pin too?

Also does the customer get any receipt or email confirmation?

Once you take payment you then can put the customers email or phone number in the app and it will either text or email the receipt straight away for them. Works a treat.

Just use your own card to test it out when you get it first to see how it works. Just take £1 on your own card.

Been using PayPal here for approx same amount of time.

Best thing I ever did along with go cardless.

Btw PayPal is in your bank account ready for funds immediately. You don't need to wait 3 days.

Is it the paypal reader ?  The cost when I looked at it was 54p for a £10 transaction  and 17p for Sum up. 

Go Cardless is great but it's more like direct debit and not a card reader. Takes a week to show up in your account but only costs 10p per £10 taken and free to set up.

I use both Go Cardless and a card reader plus paypal for online payments.   Also BACS payments are free.

Go cardless isn't like a direct debit...it IS a direct debit.

Yes think you're right.  It only adds the extra 20p charge if you swipe card using PayPal.

GoCardless is excellent. Its all automated with cleaner planner / aworka too so very easy to use and a constant stream of money coming in. The year just gone we were up a considerable amount which is because partly due to increased work but also the better cashflow from using GC.

In the process of transferring all customers over to it. We have the odd one here and there who don't want to, the ones who are good payers I will keep BACS. The others who take ages with multiple reminders will be gone once they are replaced by new customers who are DD only. On another note quite an influx of new customers recently - due to someone else leafleting I think!

Yes that's what I do too. Any bad payers I always let them know that to continue the service they will need to sign up to gc.

Go Cardless is fantastic.

For me my payment priorities are.

1) BACS
2) CONTACTLESS CARD/CHIP AND PIN
3) DIRECT DEBIT (FOR THE FORGETFUL TYPES)

Recently discovered that the cost of paying a cheque into the bank at the machine costs me £1.50 machine fee + 68p cheque fee. I had previously been told that this was free to use so I was a bit ped off when I phoned the bank asking where these charges over last couple of years were coming from.
Question is how do I get the OAP's onto direct debit when they don't have Internet.
