We have a 3.8lpm pump and a 5.2lpm pump on the van. The 3.8lpm came from Williamson pumps as their answer to reduce pump cycling and burnt out pressure switches in the days before they launched their first analogue flow controller.
From time to time I end up with the 3.8 lpm pump. I have to run it on 7 (Varistream) to get the same flow I do with my Varistream on 4 using the 5.2lpm pump.
The only difference in the pumps as the angle of the cam being shallower on the 3.8lpm pump. Both pumps draw the same current.
This is what i was thinking with the current draw , that it would be higher for a higher rated flow pump , as Spruce has just said , it would appear that the 2 more common models draw the same .
As said , I dont have an issue with the pump other than age , the 1.7 L that i get is more than enough for me , when i run the pump at 85 it uses between 4 and 4.5 amps , if i knock it back to 75 the amps drop to 3 or 3.5 , so in other words i guess what i am really looking for is the lowest amp consuming pump i can get my hands on !
Nathankaye got hold of one of the China pumps for his trolley , from the specs i saw it seemed to only pull 3 amps , when i looked at the listing it only had a rating of watts consistent with the Shurflo 3.8 L model , this would convert to the same ampage ?
So come on peeps , find me a pump that can empty my tank in seconds using 1 amp per hour
