Leisure battery recommendations
« on: October 08, 2017, 01:48:24 pm »
Hi all

Read through a few backposts and have looked online and there a gajillion options on leisure batteries!

I've had 110ah Numax mostly in the past and am pretty happy, but even Numax have now numerous options on their leisure batteries!

So basically, just getting a grasp on which make and model people have found works for them?

Not interested in wiring into the van battery as I'm sure some will suggest (the transit custom oem battery is crap) just looking at which leisure battery people use and I use a split charger anyway

Cheers mucho

I was literally just looking at the same battery online! ;D

Seems to have some good reviews, and apparently has more cycles...
(Looks like its not maintenance free though)

Have you used it before or just the last year?
Looking for something that'll last a couple of years ideally (this current numax I have has lasted just under 2years being benched most weekends and a scr through the week)

Have come across this on my web researching...

Interesting that suppliers are now becoming aware of window cleaners battery needs, not sure I'll be spending a grand on a battery though!!!

Only the last year but no problems and never bench charge it, i do in general 35-40 miles on a working day and about 6 hours cleaning .

Heading towards dual purpose batteries is definitely the way to go Don.

Numax also have a leisure battery that has a CCA specification. More and more windiws are using electric reels and these use a high current draw albeit for 30 - 40 secs. I don't think ordinary leisure batteries are up to that these days.

From what I’ve seen, most seem to come with a cca rating, although I cant see us going over to electric reels in the near future...

I would normally stick with what I know and go for the Numax XV31MF that I’ve had before but there seen to be numerous Numax options as well and they all seem similar. I can’t get my head around why they have numerous options which on the face of it have pretty much the same spec!

Also looked at this: http://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/window-cleaning-batteries/115ah-xplorer-leisure-battery/

I’ve never used an xplorer before but the fact its sold as a ‘window cleaners’ battery and has a 3 year warranty, it’d be interesting to know whether they’d honour the warranty...
Anyone used one?

Battery seemed fine today after having 2 pumps on pretty much full on all day...not sure if maybe a loose connection was causing less power to one pump last week (after being bench charged) we’d done less work and one controller was showing ‘bat’!

Will still get another battery though as if it goes through the day, we can just draw from the other battery straight away

That battery only has 70 recharge cycles. No discharge level quoted.

Numax say they have 500 + cycles at 70% discharge.

This is an interesting one if you ignore the price.

I bet Numax will find a way of getting out of the warranty.

Cheers Spruce, I hadn’t noticed the recharge cycles (not sure how they can claim ‘for window cleaners’ with only 70!)

Yeah, I’d noticed that battery but I think I’d rather run two 110’s in parallel if I was going to spend £200!

Think I might stick with buying the Numax I’m already running...

Cheap, sold pretty much fully charged.

A weekly charge to keep topped up, an annual going over the Ctek's deep cycle charge thingy and Bob's your uncle.
