How do YOU pay employees for first cleans?
« on: October 04, 2017, 06:13:43 pm »
Having done over 200 first cleans since the spring, I am considering renumeration options for my  team when it comes to first cleans.

At the moment they rarely do first cleans.  Their work is 12 or six weekly maintenance cleans and I pay them 30% of what they bill  every day OR minimum wage.

On the days they do first cleans, I currently pay them a day rate, which  =

30% of what they bill daily on average.

So, in other words, for days when they are doing first cleans, they get the average of what they bill daily (times by 30%)

The problem with this is that it doesn't really incentive them to 'hit the turbos' when it comes to first cleans. I can do 4 -6 first cleans per day, but they only just manage three.

So, for days they do first cleans, I'm thinking about paying them 50% of what they bill....

So, if they do 5 £30 first cleans, they get 5x£30 = £150 x 0,5 = £75.

whay all the faff

just pay them an hourly rate

talk about complicating things.

surely they are doing the same amount of work whether its a first clean or maintenance clean, they just take twice as long so you will have half the turnover.

you cant "turbo" a first clean, they take as long as they take to do a perect job, same as a maintenance clean, you cant do it any faster than the fastest it can be done to do a good job.

I'd do first cleans myself.
It's a game of three halves!

I've re read this a few times, i don't understand what you're saying. Maybe something is getting lost in the terminology...... "what they bill " ? How does an employee bill you ? I don't understand. In any case you seem to be saying you are currently paying 30% and because they are going slow you are going to up it to 50% ?  ???
