How often do you get complaints?
« on: October 02, 2017, 07:41:40 pm »
So got a text off a customer tonight, saying there was thick marks over the glass last time.  I replied asking which windows and was it all of them or or just a few.  He hasnt got back to me yet.  Hes a loyal customer though never had any problems.

So my question is, how often do you get complaints?  If he just told me last month they dried funny, would of gone back the next day to reclean, but now im thinking hes probably just thinks i did a bad job.

Also, do you ever clean windows which usually dry fine, but every now and then they dry and have spotting etc...

Today we cleaned 2 houses that usually dry perfect, but the front window on one house dried terrible with spotting all over it, and on another house about 1/4 of the windows at the back had lots of spotting on too, even after cleaning twice.

Just couldn't understand as these are houses we clean every 4 weeks and usually dry perfect every time.

Wondered if it was because it was windy today, but saying that, all the other windows we did dried just fine, except the few mentioned above.

Do any of you lot have problems like this, or do you splash and dash so fast, you dont have time to wait around to check?  ;D ;D ;D

Not very often but I'm sure we make mistakes like anyone else. Anyone who says every window comes out perfect is lying. People either don't notice or don't bother telling us.
I just say to every customer, especially new ones that if ever they're not happy with the clean, let me know and we'll come back & clean them again for free. It's happened a couple of times & we just redo the whole house unless it's a mansion! Customer seems impressed by this. I think I took a leaf out of the Alex Gardiner book of customer service !

We're not splash & dash but certainly don't wait around for them to dry either. It'll be older windows or vents that'll give problems. Or high winds beating dirt onto wet glass. I think you have to accept you'll never please everyone. Majority of people are reasonable I find & if they're not you just gotta be polite and offer to correct it. It's all part of a service IMO.

can probably count the number of complaints I've had in 7 years on one hand!

But there has been the odd time where I have noticed the odd thing myself and obviously put it right.

So I reckon most people who do experience the odd spot or three aren't bothered enough by it to say anything.

I can remember my first day wfp and doing a house and must of jetted into the vent, I went back and got sacked on the spot. they showed me the window and to be fair it looked dreadful. I think they genuinely thought I was taking the pee. Still see them around and say hi though.

I am doing a lot of test windows lately using different techniques etc and going back later in the day just to learn more about my craft. Experimenting with my 100 degree fan jets as well as them being new you really cant tell if they are rinsing or not but have been pleasantly surprised even when rinsing on!

If I knew how/could be bothered I would document it all on video as I think it would be very useful to newbies/intermediates.

I'm trad so I'm up close and personal as it were.

I very rarely get a complaint, but if I do I apologize and redo as required.

I did get a complaint a few years ago where it wss alleged that I left fingerprints over all the windows!

When I went back there were lots of marks that did indeed look like finger marks. Whatever they were, they were etched into the glass. I redid them anyway but only to satisfy the (now ex-) customer that I wasn't responsible for them.

Trouble is some people think that wfp is a magic wand but it isn't....some windows need a different approach to cleaning to others.

Spot on! Oops sorry  ;D  I agree

I'm sure too, that the odd customer likes to keep you on your toes by making frivolous complaints.  I've got one elderly old dear who makes the odd 'very freindly' complaint that her windows dried 'all funny' last time.  Whenever I check them there's never anything to see.  I insist that she calls me back if ever there's a problem but she won't hear of it.  Won't accept a refund either.

As i was driving to aberdeen from doncaster i got a phone call from a customer who I had cleaned 3 days prior, so i switched it to voicemail.
When i got to my destination i played the message and he wanted me to call back something about his patio windows.
BUT that was 3 days prior and im on family vacation so sent a polite text back explaining im away on holiday and will contact him when back. Hes fine with that and ive not gave it a 2nd thought till now.

Apart from that i very rarely get any complaints, other than my price increases and quotes i leave  ;D

I've had a few, not many.

Mostly from people who realise they can't really afford the service, and use not doing a good job as an excuse.

Sometimes you get a customer, and straight away you just know they are going to be trouble. My advice is drop them faster than a hot potato, as there are plenty of customers who are good as gold.

Only from new customers trying it on.
I used to call back and ask them where. They still didn't pay, so stopped wasting my time.
Had one last week, saying I keep missing her bathroom window. To cut a long story short. It was on the inside lol

I very rarely get complaints...in fact I get more texts saying how happy the custy is.
However, I had one house i've cleaned for over 2 years, nice people, text me to say money is paid but spots on the windows.
I went round next day and from the inside 3 (but only 3) of the windows were covered in spots! Really bad. I was quite shocked. I genuinely had no idea what could have caused it. I re-cleaned all the downstairs trad (including the connie) and as a gesture of goodwill I cleaned all the insides of the connie windows as well. Probably another 10 mins. Custy was really happy and felt very well looked after.  I also checked 2 other other houses I had cleaned the day before and all was fine. I'm back there soon so I will see how it goes.

I had one that kept saying they had spotting on just one of their windows. Was the down stairs front living room windows.

Came to realised later it was them doing it. They had hanging plants just above each corner of the window. Asked them how they watered them. They said they just blasted them with the hose sprayer about three times a week.   There you go I said.  It's your spray drying with spots on the windows and the plants draining dirty water after.

I have seen so many people washing their cars with pressure washers with no care of avoiding spray landing on windows.

Had an interesting one today. Pulled up at an old guys house I did 1st clean last month & he came out to say he didn’t want me to do it as there were spots on 2 windows and he has had someone else back twice due to spots on windows.

I told him he should have rang me & I would have cleaned them again. He didn’t really get that & strange how he has had someone else clean them and twice still not right,

The worst of it all - a mega cheap house & I couldn’t escape for about half an hour
