dpf again??
« on: September 30, 2017, 09:33:11 pm »
Had a dpf regen and fuel vaporiser replacement in June and it wasn't cheap!

Didn't mind too much as I thought it'll be sorted now...wrong...the lights are back on the dash and its back in limp mode.

Had it MOT'D on Friday and diagnosed dpf. I've now got to take a day off next week to get it sorted again.

The van is 2 year through the finance and I now have the option to just hand it back which I'm seriously considering as I would much prefer to lease given the recent problems I'm paying for. the balance is £4,300 and if the van covers it I wont have to pay anything else. its a 2012 transit swb t280 with around 90k and looking around it probably would fetch at least the balance.

What is the agreement to get if get rid of my current van and lease/hp/other. there seems to be a lot of options and I'm not sure which route to take.

I like the look of them vivaro, anyone got 1?

Just put some Wynnes DPF cleaner in the tank and take it for a good blast. You should thrash the nuts off it every 100 miles or so to try and keep the dpf reasonably clean- although it's a flawed technology to begin with.

I give my dispatch an Italian tune up at least once every tank of fuel.
Get the engine up to temp, get the van on a fast road and drive over 3000 revs in 3rd gear for 15-20 mins.

lol 3k worth of revs once aweek ! i hit that every time pulling out of places in london with 1200lts of water on , your driving it like a wimp the van needs beating more if your trying to clear it out then its over 3k pulling though all the gears  from a standing start

or you could remove the dpf and get it mapped at van tuner job done i will give 4200 for it or even better when i pick it up i will just pay the outstanding amount over the phone while your there and drive off with it looking for a tranit at the minute

Hi
I have a lwb transit connect 2012
Same problem as you dpf light on saying diesel filter overload with no power had a new dpf filter fitted £425   Light has stayed off so far but got no confidence in the van as I'm waiting for it to come on.
Also my clutch has started to slip that's another £500
I hate my van  can't wait to get rid
In hindsight should of had the dpf removed and re mapped.

Why would you need to thrash a van every fill up surely you should be able to drive them normally and  not have a problem.
Mine drives normally and I rarely go on motorway with it.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

I have read somewhere that the dpf will be checked on mot's as aprt of it soon so removal may not be a good idea!

If your thinking of leasing a Vivaro DON'T go to Vanarma! Time wasters.

Ten phone calls chasing them over two weeks ended up asking the chap who was meant to be dealing with it to escalate the problem to management. I followed up with another couple of calls to speak to the manager and was promised he will phone me back.
You take the time researching the market, picking a brand, model and spec then choosing your colour and optional extras. You order said van and follow up with a call to make sure that it's being put through (telling them that they messed up before) and they say oh he's on the other line time after time day after day!  Then eventually you get a call "eh there was a problem" the van wasn't put through and oh that'll be another 2k on the price now! But I'll just rhyme off some prices for something else and tell you can get them now, but I won't mention that it's nowt like what you were ordering and it's not got the optional extras in the quote but if I p you off enough you might just take it!
It's like trying to ordering orange and after being messed about they offer you a price on a lemon based on the grounds that it's a citrus fruit.
Weeks later the manager hasn't called!

They remove the innards of the dpf filter and reprogram to ecu to believe its still there. So to an MOT inspector, all he has to see it that its visibily there and no warning lights on the dash board.

ATM there is no emissions tests for diesels as there are petrol engines. But if that changes then there is going to be a high demand for dpf filters and reprograming of ecus.

They recommend 4th year at a constant 2-3 1000 revs for 20 miles to get it hot enough to burn it off,if it’s worked when you restart the warning light should stay off.
